Wonder why the Illini got matched with such a weak team as 'cuse in the B10-ACC challenge.
Weak or not if we don't hit our shots and have one of those 4-5 minute scoring lapses along with another 20 turnover game, we could be in for a tough one. Syracuse plays Virginia, Duke, and N.C. tough every year. They are not pushovers. Go Illini!

We're going to run them off the floor.
This may come to be true, but with their style of play, running them off the floor would be a surprise as they will not get into an up and down game with the Illini. Trading hoops in half court at about a 3 to 2 rate might be more expected. Just hope Illini defense and rebounding is intense enough to cause nearly 20 SU turnovers. Would love to see Illini turns in single digits but I can't imagine that happens against Syracuse. Good goal though.

Knowing little about SU, does anyone know if they have shooters or pose a threat to score 80 or more on the Illini? That would surprise me.

I guess I'd be ok with a 90-60 final score. Would rather not see us take it so easy on them though.

I have a friend who, ~20 years ago in his late 30s/early 40s, paid to go to some sort of basketball weekend in Vegas where he played with former college players and hobnobbed with them and some high-profile college coaches.

He had a great time. When he returned he told me he was most surprised by two things: (1) that Roy Williams was the salt of the earth, kind, humble and friendly to all; and (2) that Jim Boeheim was the biggest a$$h0le he had ever encountered.

Crush them. :illinois:

This our first game against a true zone. You will never shoot them out of a zone. When Louisville would play them they would pass it quickly to get them moving back and forth. They know how to play the zone. Move the ball . They don’t have the shooters as in the past. Have to rebound.

To me the key will be our defense....we play good pressure defense, limit them to (rebound) one and done on offense, force a few turnovers and this will allow us to keep an up tempo style of play which will help negate their zone....we don't do the things I've mentioned and it will become a slower more methodical tempo that will play right into their hands and make their zone more effective

Syracuse gave up 72 to Lehigh, 80 to Colgate, 71 to Richmond, 76 to St Johns, & 73 to Bryant. They‘ve only given up less than 70 once this year to 0-4 Northeastern.

I think we’ll be alright.

The anger is because he's generally just a smug, unlikable guy. And fans like reasons to vilify their team's opponents.

But, his statement wasn't, "The big ten had a bad showing last year." It was "(The Big Ten) sucked in the tournament...If you can't play in the tournament then you're not good."

Pretty arrogant to try to diminish an entire league like that.
Not to mention what a weird thing to say when your own team didnt even qualify for the NIT

I can't see how we could possibly lose this one. Even if we have a terrible shooting night, they are one of the worst rebounding teams in the country so we will get the second chance points.

I'm excited to see who we put at the FT line against the zone. Hawkins makes the most sense. But we could also put Shannon or Mayer there, and even Dain.

I would really like to see us bury them early, then give Rodgers a good amount of minutes against the zone. He is going to be a zone killer once he gets accustomed to the college game.

I'm not saying I disagree with Rodgers being a zone killer. But he suppose to be that good of an outside shot? I'm just asking out of ignorance of his skill set.

I can visualize a game with Skyy and Epps banging down 3 pointers that will loosen up the zone and allow for TSJ and others to penetrate the zone for layups or pass off to Cohawk or Dain for easy bunnies..........Would be nice to start the game with an attacking full court press and then bring in the Tasmanian devil Sincere to raise up the pressure even more......

I hope RJ can build off his last game and get some pick n roll dunks and get open for more 3 pter's......

We have so many weapons that bozoheim doesn't have the answers for and we will romp them by a score of.......................

Illini 80
cuse 64

LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fail Tv Land GIF by nobodies.

*I understand guy not shooting a free throw but I liked the gif.

Free throws always make me nervous with our team. I am not an eternal optimist when we rely on free throws to be the difference between a win or loss.

That being said, I don’t think it will be the difference maker in this game, or shouldn’t be anyway. But I do wish we would become one of those teams that other teams do not want to send to the line. I am pretty confident that has not been the case this year or really any year recently.
