All I want for my birthday is for us to be 2-0 against Penn State on Sept 16th. Maybe the biggest Illini game at Memorial Stadum in a while?? Win and go 3-0, and I imagine with beating 3 quality opponents gets us ranked around 15th.
Were like 44th right now. Got to think that most of the top 25 teams aren't going to lose in the non con....maybe sneak in top 25

Personally, I feel much better knowing we have the haka on our side this year

Just not on 3rd downs please
Completely agree. I loved the War Chant, but it seems much better on 4th down with sure punts (not when other team goes for it).

In general, I think Illini fans are a touch behind the game when it comes to making noise on 3rd down. We should be aiming for at least one delay of game per home game on 3rd down. In the past, especially with the War Chant, it simply did not get loud enough to be disrupting until late in the play clock.

Wow, the walk on WR convert and FBS transfer beat out the freshman All American and the P5 Transfer at Safety. Hopefully this bodes well while we wait for Bailey to return.

Saw a fair number of snaps as a PWO WR, so there was already something they saw in him, but it's crazy to think he changed positions and still made his way on to the field ahead of an all american!

There's no way unless that does not include students tickets. Speaking of which, I'm surprised nothing has been announced about that, which worries me. Have they not sold out? If so, that is...sad.
They sold the most student season tickets in a decade according the Bielema. And it's a Saturday night game, I'll be shocked if there isn't a good amount of spill over into the east side stands.

Agreed. I think the student section will be just fine. 😎

They were more full by percentage than the rest of the stadium last season. They are carrying the banner for the rest of the fans.

According to Cassie Arner on WDWS sport talk 8-30-23, a good podcast to listen to btw if you plan on going to the games (starts -12:25)-
* Hoping for 44k-45k in the stands Saturday night.
* 10k new season ticket holders, 93% renewal rate on season tickets.
* 6k students for Saturday night, that's a full north end zone plus overflow in the east main.

The 2022 season opener vs Wyoming for comparison: 37k announced attendance, 26k thru the gate (via).

Hard to take much from that. He'd have much better weapons to throw to and a MUCH better line protecting him if we happened to need him.

I asked this on another thread but didn’t get a reply. When they say 10k new season ticket holders, do the mean 10k “new customers” in addition to the 93% who renewed from last year? That seems like a very respectable growth in season ticket holders. And if that is the case do we know total season tickets sold for this year?

Yes. 10,000+ new season ticket holders that did not have season tickets in 2022. I am sure they are counting those that held season tickets prior to 2022 in that 10,000 figure, but yes, very good growth in season ticket sales.

I am not sure the exact number of season ticket holders. I will defer to somebody else to answer that part of the question.

Sorry just saw that illini0440 answered a minute before me while typing.
