The short turnaround from Saturday to Tuesday could be a big factor. Will likely need some of the depth guys to step up big. Fortunately, last night was a 5 PM tip so shouldn't have been a terribly long night. Hopefully there's plenty of recovery and PT work going on a little later this morning.

It may be prudent for BU to contract a couple MD's, or PA's to look after the team for the rest of the season and immediately get them making the rounds of the sick and injured Illini players and make sure they are taking care of themselves and get out in front of this.

I just noticed - all of UCLA's seven consecutive wins have been on the west coast. Five at home and one at USC and one at Washington. In fact, as of yet, they do not have a win east of the Rockies this season. 🤞
I've watched them play a few times and been thoroughly unimpressed.

Will be a bit of an interesting matchup as UCLA will typically play basically without a true big for half the game unless they play Mara heavy minutes which they do from time to time.

Their best players are their forwards in Bilodeau and Dailey. Both of them can knock down shots to stretch the floor as well as score inside. I think Morez matches up well though.

The guards are all varying levels of unimpressive imo. They are all roughly average shooters but nobody is a true knockdown guy and they aren't overly big though Johnson has decent size.

It's a Mick Cronin team they are going to try to slow the game down and make it ugly. Hard to tell what Illini team is going to show up these days but if they come in with the game plan to push the pace and attack the rim I think they will have success. Mara is a capable rim protector when he's on the court but id still like to see them attack the basket and go inside-out instead of settling for 3s.

Need a whole nurses station by the bench.

I'm concerned about KB's injury status.....combine that concern with DGL and Tre's flu concern's and I see a short bench getting even shorter..........

Can AJ Redd give quality minutes if needed ?
Can Jake D. handle the pressure of being a primary ball handler if needed ?

Let's introduce ucla to the pain of Champaign and keep our winning streak going and snap their's..........

LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!

I've seen a couple of UCLA games, they are OK but not spectacular. Illinois will have positional size, although UCLA has a thin 7-3 player off the bench.

UCLA as a team is average in most categories, they are near top 50 in assists and steals. But they are very low in team rebounding.

Key points for Illinois is attack the rim, score inside, get to the free throw line. Limit 3s to under 18-20, rebound misses. BU please keep Morez in the game, believe he can have a big game here.

Thoughts I’ve had all season.. can we please get back to doing some High-Low action ala Giorgi/Kofi?
Similarities are there with the skilled passing of Tomi and Giorgi, and obviously the man-child of Morez/Kofi.
Insiders, does the staff even consider it? Or is it back pocket and bring it out in March?
It would be AMAZING!

The problem is that Bilodeau and Dailey are nightmare matchups for Jake, Ben, and Tomi as well. We've been alright at slowing down low block players when we've played well, but our front court don't have great footspeed on the defensive end. Will needs to play some minutes at the 4. When Ben and/or Jake are on the floor, we'll need to defend really well as a team to make up for the bad matchup.

I mean I don't see Bilodeau and Dailey as any more problematic than any other front court duo we have encountered this season. Bilodeau plays C at 6-9 230 and Dailey PF 6-8 230 so it's going to be Ivisic with a 4 inch size advantage guarding Bilodeau and Morez/Ben will get Dailey. Keeping in mind Morez/Ben just held the B1G leading scorer (Garcia 23.6ppg in conf play) to 12 points on 4-14 shooting and Jake is unlikely to get the assignment of guarding either of them anyway.

Bilodeau giving up 4 inches to Ivisic is a huge advantage to Illinois too. Goldin absolutely destroyed the guy in the game I watched a couple weeks ago. UCLA has a 7'3 kid they play 10-12 minutes off of the bench, maybe they start him and go bigger, will be interesting to see.

Aday Mara will be a good matchup for BigT.
