Hate to say it but we just need to look the part out there. Even if we lose. Just give ourselves something to build from. Would like to see us get back to conservative, disciplined football and rely on winning the turnover and penalty battle.

But the real question is, what is El Presidente going to score Monicals tomorrow??? Been waiting years for him to do a Monicals review. He gave Papa Dels a 7.1. Respectable.

Heckel did not look good last week. Maybe you put Cox in the slot (especially vs a guy like Lemon), and Patterson and Clarke outside.

There's just so much more reliability had Scott been out there.

Did anyone look good last week? I'm hoping it's one of those"just throw it in the trash" games and everyone gets a fresh start this week. Time will tell.

Got a good feeling about this one. Illini with a strong start and stronger finish. Middle might get crazy, but in the end, Illinois pulls away, draining the clock.

Humiliating losses have a way of getting a team’s attention at practice… especially when their coach is Bret Bielema.

You were painfully close to correct last week in final score prediction, so I fully support this one.

I’ll say:

USC: 34
IL: 20

I think the difference in the game is that USC leads the nation in sacks and IL gives up a lot of sacks.

I’ll be honest. I’m actually somewhat less excited than last week, because the improbable dream is gone. But I’m far more curious about this week. I’m genuinely curious what this team is all about. We’ll find out.

This is what makes college football so amazing. The regular season IS the playoff. Every week is everything.

It's going to be very hot. Players will be cramping up. Need frequent rests and plenty of water.

We need to find a way to give Luke time to go through his reads. When that happens, he is absolutely surgical.

I , like everyone else here , wonder how the Illini will perform after last week's debacle in loosierland.....some here have posted the usual doom and gloom and I fully understand their POV.....it was a sh!t show worthy of remorse and deflating confidence in the remaining Illini schedule and their ability to compete......

what once were games counted as wins now teeter the fence that could go either way in our minds after the deflating performance that still reverberates in the deep dark recesses of our fragile memory banks........it is very hard to see this game as winnable with the mystic of USC and the absolute agony of last week paired together as our source of wanting to believe.......

I expect we all will get a good frame of reference on how this game will go in the first 10 minutes of play today.....how the Illini handle those first 10 minutes today , to me , will show the true make up of the Illini's moral character and compete level.....JMHO.

I hope we see a fire in the Illini's eyes as a " want to win " , not a hope to win........a defeat like last week in today's game will eliminate a lot of joy and enthusiasm that has been built from the start of last season going forward till last week's loss.....

I'm going fully with my heart on this week's prediction instead of the fully understandable doom and gloom attitude and see a close game with the Illini reclaiming some ground that was lost by last week's result......

I have avoided posting all week and getting invested into this game. Which has been disappointing because this program finally got the call to host a pre-game show which is is an incredibly exciting opportunity, regardless of what you think of the hosts. On top of that, you can still look at the schedule and our team and make a case for 8+ wins still.

I'm sure it's been said by many others, but that Indiana "game" was crushing. Not because we lost but the reaction (coaches on down) to getting absolutely picked on. It was the stereotypical image of a bully holding a smaller kid at arms length while the smaller kid flailed wildly without changing anything they were doing. The smaller kid is absolutely helpless and, in a way, just sad looking.

It's the fact that Indiana is our recent historic kin. Football was a wasteland while basketball was king on campus. We see Bret build something of our desolate program, year-over-year. We convince ourselves that this is the way (and I think it still is, to a different degree than I did 168 hours ago) only to have our twin brother come out of nowhere and humiliate us at the family reunion dinner for all relatives to see.

I can't shake the feeling that I got watching this team last Saturday night, I hope the team has been able to. This whole week I have waited to shake off the doom and gloom mentality, but it still hasn't left. Last week can be the turning point in a season, and if whatever questions were asked coming out of last week aren't answered adequately then much of the remainer of the season comes into doubt.

Thankfully, for my own sanity, I have a pretty full day of family stuff and won't be able to watch the game live (and this make ridiculous hot takes in the game thread). It'll be recorded, and I'll try to avoid the score if possible. I hope the team gives me a reason to stay invested past the first quarter and a half.

See you all on the other side of this one.
