I'm excited for this one! It's a big game for USC too. This is the 1st of 4 really tough games for them and with the way we played against IU, they have to be smelling blood in the water.

Our offense needs to come out swinging. Get some points on the board, get our home crowd into it, and I'll be confident we can pull it out.

Really have a feeling this will be an instant classic. Hopefully we can pull it out.

Got to set the tone in the first half and keep it rolling. This game could determine the projectory for the rest of the season.

Lunney has to do a better job adjusting to what the defense is throwing at us. Surely he has several plays to run to make them pay for their over aggressive attack when they are bum rushing and blitzing us. If he doesn't have an automatic counter plan for this he needs to go. Seems like that should be the obvious plan that even a high school offensive coordinator would do. We are going to keep seeing more of the defensive scheme Indiana used against us until we show we can make them pay for it. Also why dont we get our tight ends more involved in the passing game. Seems like quick hitters to them would work well in those situations. Lunney has been very overrated imo.

The USC fight song is very repetitious/obnoxious.

They play many times after every time they score.

I do like their warrior guy riding the horse. It looks like a real team symbol, not just some guy wearing a big ugly cartoon head.

There is a factor of the size of the squad... We can only travel with 75?... but we actually have 105? on the roster.. at home you can play more bodies - even if they are inexperienced... At Indiana we just ran out of DB's... we didn't have anymore..

There are a lot of similarities between the Illini and the Nebraska programs right now.

Both programs are trying to prove their worth on the field and establish a place at the highest level of College Ball teams after many years of being also-rans.

Both fan bases are frustrated and a bit despondent right now because the programs have not delivered on the field to show they truly belong as current Top 25 programs.

Both programs hired coaches to rebuild their programs and bring in more talent.

Both fans bases are currently resetting their expectations for this season to soften the blow of a potentially disappointing season if the teams do not respect well to tough losses.

Both programs are looking at Indiana and wondering why THEY can’t be another Indiana -- NOW.

Illini fans SO MUCH want this program to succeed and really join the level of the Big Boys of the Big Ten. And so do two generations of Nebraska fans that have come along since the Big Red badly fell off their High Perch of College Ball in the late 1990s.

While the Rams and Chargers of the NFL figure out from time to time where they want to call Home – everywhere from Cleveland to Anaheim to St. Louis to San Diego to the suburbs of LA near the busy airport and gridlocked 405 traffic...

The real team of Southern California has always been USC. While they too have had their ups-and-downs over the years they have never really embarrassed themselves during an extended stretch of time recently and have remained either really or somewhat competitive.

Both the Illini and Big Red can still manage to have good seasons. Both have a chance to try to find fixes for flaws that exist in their lineups. For both programs... things can still go either way this season.

What both programs are hoping for is no big regression. At least. And in a today’s high-competitive NIL environment for top talent that they can keep their programs in the mix of having great National success. Otherwise... we’ll still be stuck with the Ohio States and the Longhorns and the SEC and the State of Florida and those same old programs sucking up all the talent again.

Henry said we missed 20 tackles in the game. Do we have to start teaching college football players how to tackle? Maybe they weren't as good of players as the opponent. How can the Indiana football coach have that many quality players in such a short period of time? I know about the portal, but he must really know how to evaluate. I've said for years, we are the only school in the Country that has 2 downs to get a first down. I would like to have a dollar for everytime we run up the middle for no gain on first down. Play action might surprise teams, since we hardly ever do that. No quick slants or 2 step drop and pass.

Missed 20 tackles. And one good tackle we had got called for a targeting.

I do have hope and faith in Bielema to make adjustments, but I’m not sure there are enough adjustments that can be made to fix the problems that were shown this past weekend.

Time will tell, but right now, I see this game being only slightly better than the last.

USC - 45
Illinois - 17

If you had to ask me today, 34-24 USC.

My positive side thinks we come out looking more like the team that beat the other USC. If we can keep things tight at halftime, we will have a chance to win.

Memorial Stadium needs to be up for grabs Saturday. Our team needs a boost. But I'm afraid the atmosphere will be more tense and in a "wait and see". Hope I'm wrong.

Showing we have our guys' backs could give our O-Line that extra push and get the defense back to flying around making big plays.

sorry if posted, but this does not give me a lot of hope: (a) if it’s all correctable, why wasn’t it corrected (cignetti saw, among other things, how weak our o-line was from duke game, as did anyone with eyes) and (b) regarding your good coaches . . . tim robinson “you sure about that” dot gif.

always accompany a negative post with how pleased i’ve been with bielema (although I wanted leipold), but i fear the same old story coming off a successful year.

Just saw that USC has scored more than any other B1G team in conference games since joining the B1G. That’s a (not so) fun fact.

I would hope our guys are completely embarrassed by the result Saturday. I'm pretty sure BB is, and will be reminding them daily that he is and that they should be.

Both lines better start playing closer to their abilities as demonstrated late last year, or this game and season may slip away sooner than later. It all starts there IMO, especially the offensive line. If we can't possess the ball more than 20 minutes mustering 9 first downs and 2 net rushing yards while giving up 7 sacks, Lord help us.

52-17 condoms

Indinia hit an artery, it's still spouting going into this game. Trojans smell blood...

Last time they played in Champaign in 1996 week 2. They brought that band along for a 55-3 beatdown. I heard that frickin song in my head for a solid 3 weeks after the game. They played it A LOT on that Saturday in Champaign. It was the unofficial end of Lou Tepper so that was a positive.
