McCray is a beast, but he gets winded. One thing I think the coaches did right was to try to spell him at the beginning of the 2nd half, and he got his mojo back. Took himself out a few times when we needed him, but it takes a lot out of a freshman (or anyone) to carry most of the defense 5 yards after contact on 3rd and 1.

The defense is improving, but we need to go with Art and not Peters. No clue why Peters can’t get the ball out quickly or make better decisions, but he needs to sit.
After watching Peters all game, I'm for giving Art another try. There's a reason Peters couldnt Qb at Michigan.

Fair, but Love was not the answer today. He couldn't keep up after contact. Norwood seemed to be a better choice today

After last week I decided I wasn’t going to waste any more time watching Illini football this season but from what I’m hearing about the game Bielema might be a worse in game coach than Smith, and although the defense is playing better they clearly can’t stop anyone when the game is on the line.

The Grand Canyon sized gap between what’s happening on defense and what’s happening on offense needs to result in major and dramatic changes over the next 3-4 months. If there is neither the will or ability to pull that off, we’re really on no different trajectory than we were the last time around.

No criticism of BB from me. He had the lead, he has the best punter in NCAA FBS, his opponent was playing their backup QB who looked scattered on prior possession, and his defense was playing well. Pinning Purdue deep, and expecting one more stop, was understandable to me. We all saw how it played out, but I’m not criticizing the punt decision there.

I think I agree... But it's so easy to pounce on that decision looking at how the next few minutes played out

Agree, the losses when he was the starter were more due to defensive let downs not quarterback play.

Just woke up and caught the last 10 minutes and thought I was listening to last weeks game. Definitely a glitch in the matrix.

But you're at the opponent's 34 yard line! You absolutely have to go for it. Or kick the FG; McCourt easily has that leg

I’m befuddled.
You pooch punt after a timeout when JUST LAST WEEK you lost the game on the same passive decision?

Peters is a good kid but not the answer from a 6th year QB.
I’m ok with Art…. but let’s see Collier. Inject some life on that side of the ball.

But the biggest issue? Instilling culture in Year One… that we will play not to lose with 9 min left in the game?

99% of our fan base is ok if we lose by being aggressive but to lose by punting and holding your breath?
In consecutive weeks?
That’s NOT a culture or identity that I want.
