Purdue 24, Illinois 17 Postgame

We are the worst team in the B10 and it’s not that close.
The program is in crisis, which is unacceptable in year 6 of a regime. BB will get next year, but something has to change ( money, recruiting) to start believing he has a future past next year. The promise of BB was guaranteed respectability. 6 years in, that promise proved to be wrong.

The Bielema era feels like it’s entering the 2002-2004 years of Ron Turner. I think it’s still a good coaching staff, but without the talent on the field I think things look pretty bleak from here on out. Especially looking at the schedule in 2027.

Completely outclassed by the worst program in the Big 10. Says it all. We don’t have dudes on defense, or scheme. And offense is ok, but I do question the strategy of paying big money for the QB when the funds are limited. I think going forward, the strategy should be get a cheap home grown QB, and use the real money on the rest of the roster

I’d just like us to keep our recruits at this point. Michigan State and Maryland seem like winnable games and I’m sure we may find a way to win one more (assuming we don’t lose one of the first two I mentioned) but getting to 6 wins seems impossible and I think 3-9 is much more realistic than 5-7. I don’t think we lose out but this is going downhill very fast.

This was a complete and utter travesty. No two bits about it.

What makes it even more infuriating is that the defense was actually good enough to keep us in the game. The offense just refused to do anything.

It's gonna be a long year, folks. Buckle up. We're looking like a bottom-five team in the B1G, now.

Lucky to get to 4 wins. Lucky to get any big crowds from now on. I have tickets for Iowa. Probably getting rid of them for free.

All this is on Bret and the coaching staff. Enough of the lack of NIL money excuse. It’s the lack of player development, lack of technique, questionable play calling on offense, FCS level defensive scheme, poor decisions being made on special teams and lack of execution. So many mistakes on the field.

The coaching from HC on down is such poor quality so far.

All I want is a program that consistently average 7-9 wins a year , maybe even make a playoff run in a blue moon.
I don’t see that now with this staff. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.

Coach Underwood, please bring me off the ledge.

We beat Tennessee and USC last year, this program just can't sustain success and fan momentum. Also no more focusing on "retention" when 1 maybe 2 players on defense would start for a top half B1G defense. Lunney has been diabolical on 3rd and short in fg range this year and every decision has been wrong.

Who is making a 3 hr drive for the Oregon game? I'm not
