Purdue 24, Illinois 17 Postgame

We beat Tennessee and USC last year, this program just can't sustain success and fan momentum. Also no more focusing on "retention" when 1 maybe 2 players on defense would start for a top half B1G defense. Lunney has been diabolical on 3rd and short in fg range this year and every decision has been wrong.

Who is making a 3 hr drive for the Oregon game? I'm not
The problem today honestly was the good side of the ball played really poorly

I know recency bias will be strong in here, but what do you think our chances are of winning three more games? I see @ MSU, @Maryland, and Nebraska as possible wins. Thoughts?

Ugh. Just ugh. Sitting through that game was REALLY painful. It’s SO hard to be and stay an Illini fan.
P.S. After 42 years of having season tickets, I’m an eternal optimist. I’ll be back next game. #IlliniForLife

I hope Valentine's injury isn't serious and he can bounce back. But, we are so bad right now, he would not have changed the outcome of this game and probably won't change the downhill slide of this season.

This was a complete and utter travesty. No two bits about it.

What makes it even more infuriating is that the defense was actually good enough to keep us in the game. The offense just refused to do anything.

It's gonna be a long year, folks. Buckle up. We're looking like a bottom-five team in the B1G, now.
We were bottom 5 before this game, now we are bottom 2, possibly THE bottom

And that is what regression looks like. Heading in the wrong direction as a program if you can’t beat Purdue at home

My only complaint about Lunney is he gets to cute at times
I appreciate your insights from an inside perspective, and you probably know a lot more about football than I do. But, running up the middle and wasting the 3rd down in 4-down territory every time is not too cute, it's just stubborn. I realize he is a talented play designer, but his playing calling should utilize both 3rd and 4th down in those situations by trying creative plays instead of wasting the 3rd down and limiting us to only 4th down.

Coach BB win say the things the team wrong are on him, but are easy fixes. Yada, yada, yada. Too many problems to fix........ QB is too erratic with his passes. He misses spots and makes receivers reach up or back too often. Also locks in on Dixon even in double coverage and misses open 2nd or 3rd guys. Team is really in free fall.

This was kind of my thought. Also that I think the Aaron Henry firing is a cautionary tale for a team that thinks they can do better.
Henry certainly wasn’t the answer at DC but it’s also glaringly obvious there’s not enough talent on this roster to make up for lackluster scheme/coaching.

Very small, unfortunately. @MSU and @Maryland are best opportunities. That is where I see the 5 win ceiling.

We will be solid underdogs in all of the remaining home games.

Somebody explain again how the millions of dollars spent on the giant video board could not be spent on fielding a competitive football team.

So aliens can laugh at us while watching from space?
I always wondered why (Gies) Memorial Stadium got that "upgrade". What was wrong with the previous one?
