Every good team has to have players who can get their own shot. Every team you play knows what you run.You don't have to create your shot if you run the play. It's great to have the option of a Mayer step back at the end of the shot clock, but forcing when there's still 20 seconds left is not a good way to win games.
Yes we lost 90% of our scoring and lost numerous players to injury or transfer. So did every other team in B10.
Listen to BU's presser. He said Hawkins went to the wrong side of the floor.Hawkins was trying to run the play, Mayer wanted to go hero ball and you see Hawkins yelling at them to run the play. Mayer is like my Goldendoodle, you either love him or want strangle him lol.
With scouting, film, and a 20-game season In a brutal conference that’s probably 100%…accurate..,except for some coaches out there that add some small tweaks for post season play….Every good team has to have players who can get their own shot. Every team you play knows what you run.
You are right, I missed that. Please don't take a much joy in that admission a wife.Listen to BU's presser. He said Hawkins went to the wrong side of the floor.
I don't think we run much of an offense at all personally. At times we do (seldom). But most of the time it's one on one stuff with guys standing around (Rogers and Harris don't stand much and I love it). If you watch film of our games we have the most success on offense when we are running what looks like an offense (screens, cutting off the ball, etc.). You're correct on what you said, but I like a motion offense that has wrinkles. The wrinkles keep the defense from knowing exactly what you're doing.Every good team has to have players who can get their own shot. Every team you play knows what you run.
The refs don’t even know what a flagrant isAll of you people saying it wasn’t flagrant, here is my question. What is a flagrant foul? He pushed with two hands. If he had three hands, he would’ve pushed with three hands. That was flagrant as it gets.
What is my bathroom after I serve chili? All of you people saying it wasn’t flagrant, here is my question. What is a flagrant foul?

Gee, Chief, I read most of your comments and I don't understand why anybody would think you are Negative.Sorry Narrow ... there should be a post about Brad not having an offense and us getting carved up by systems that do.
The double digit loss comment was in Big 10 and that will happen when we lose next week.
I don't necessarily agree that it evens out over time, but let's say it does. I think something that would make things better here would be for some people(not you) to quit constantly complaining about our players. Those kids are 18 to 23 years old. They work incredibly hard and those kids are so much more talented than 99.9 percent of the people who criticize them.I would like to see every reference to the referees deleted by Dan. It’s so tiring to have to read through 20 pages of whining every game about a factor of sports that has never changed in my 60 years of following competitive athletics at every level. Referees/umpires are going to be wrong some of the time. Over time, it all evens out. It really really does. (thanks, pru). There is no master plan to favor one team over another. It makes our fan base sound like little whiny children. How about a postseason moratorium on complaining about the striped shirts?

None of the four is a good option. Epps may not be a true PG, but he's way closer than the guys you mentioned.Forgive me if it's been referenced in the previous 12 pages (I only read 6 of them).
Why was TSJ the primary ballhandler with Epps out? I read where someone said CH should've been but with Shannon and why often left alone for one-on-one? Recipe for failure out of the gate. Seemed like that was 4 TOs itself. I think we all thought it would be a combo of Hawkins, Harris, and Rodgers. I never saw solo Shannon at the point coming in the game plan.
Can I just take your word for it?We DO NOT have an offensive flow?!?!?
Apparently I am known as "too negative"on this site and many of my posts get blocked.
I am loyal but not blind... Please read a post I made back on Dec. 10th. It predicts everything about this team and season...
From Dec. 10th:
I have been saying this about the beloved daddy" Brad for years!
AND now there is no true All-American go to guy. Ayo and Kofi spoiled the hell out of us.
Where is a base offense, with back doors, alley-oops, screens and set plays??
Everyone else has them AND we are going to continue to be disappointed as they carve us up.
Someone said to take a deep breath relax, BUT everyone should take a hard look at the schedule and realize there is a double digit loss season coming.
MAYBE this makes us tourney ready??
When we actually execute this we are pretty effective offensively. Unfortunately, for whatever reason our offense too often degenerates to dribbling along the 3 point line, making a couple of short passes around the arc and throwing up a contested 3 pointerThe spread offense that we currently run as our base offense literally starts with a cut off a back screen for an alley oop look, and is followed by basically a high flex screen read for a post up.
Out of spread spacing Brad has a couple favorite sets for this team. A high post entry with cutters splitting the post into a downscreen and dribble handoff (zoom action variation), a high post entry with 2 cutters in a baseline cross screen for a high-low post look (mostly seen this run for Mayer) and elevator screen look for the high post player after a wing entry (mostly run for Mayer).
I also wrote this in a different thread not long ago:
Our go play when we need a bucket is a cross screen into a p/r for the guy BU wants to isolate. You might remember MM had it going against MSU I believe and in the post game presser they said they ran the same play like 10 times in a row. They run it for Shannon too and even a couple times for Epps.
They have a second play that they seem to run quite a bit as well where the guy who is going to end up with the ball pass and cuts to the basket area, then receives a down screen to sprint into a standing handoff read with the high post player (a variation of zoom for you basketball people). That’s what I’ve seen the most.
I mean Coleman asked the ref for a review and they just smiled at him and said noI don’t think I saw this questioned but why didn’t Underwood as for a review of foul on Mayer
Epps is definitely the best option on the roster. I was questioning the best option with him out. TJS would not have been the guy I picked -- and others on here -- and I think we saw why. That's all I was saying.None of the four is a good option. Epps may not be a true PG, but he's way closer than the guys you mentioned.
