Purdue 77, Illinois 71 Postgame

I think I read somewhere that PU has shot more FTs per game than their opponents for over a year now. That was the only battle we won tonight. PU committed 17 fouls and we shot 17-21. We committed 15, and they shot 10-14.

Some of these close losses can be attributed to questionable roster management and defensive adjustments (or no adjustments). This staff is not putting the team in the best position to win.

OK, after some time and reflection

1) We did play defense tonight, so it is still possible
2) They are a #1 seed and played like it
3) They have Edey, and no one else does
4) We played a real game and did not get home calls, but we didn't get screwed either
5) We are ok and I see us playing in the sweet 16, hard to guard Domask, Shannon, and Hawkins

That nighty nite motion from Smith near the end after his three was unwarranted, unsportsmanlike and should have been Teed up.

Nah ... That was a big shot ...

He didn't say anything to our guys ... Didn't say anything to our bench ... Turned away from everyone and did it ...

I am good with it ... You hit a shot like that ... You get to do that ...

I have known Braden and family a LONG time ... He's a good kid ... Tough as they come ... And a young man with great character ...

It’s more about how it flipped momentum around. They hit a couple threes off of us doubling him and then never cooled off.
What are you talking about? They did cool off. There was a stretch in the second half before the 4 minute mark that we went on a 8-0 run to go up by 2. We didn’t double Edey during or after that stretch.

Us not getting luck bounces and them hitting clutch 3 one after another really were the difference. And the fact that Shannon wasn’t himself tonight also didn’t help
