QC with a really good possession on final play of 1Q. Made extra pass to get teammate open 3 (he missed), then got the offensive board and put it in at the buzzer. The kid gives high level effort.
For a freshman who has yet to get his feet wet with his Illini teammates, there is so much to like about QC....his presence and demeanor on the court most of all. And his skills are solid in almost all aspects. Sure, like all frosh, he needs a little work on his handle. But he brings virtually everything to the table that can be cooked into a valuable and elite player...and most of all one who, by all appearances, understands that he has to do his part for the team. Being a bit more athletic than Keaton, my hope is that he can maintain strength, attitude, and passion for the long season. He brings what this team needs and eventually may be an equal or even better replacement for KB if he can stroke it a bit better, learn to defend at the needed level, and provide an element of leadership (Boswell was the vocal leader, but QC can help fill those shoes by silently letting his game talk.) It will be intriguing to see his development and how he can fit with his teammates. But ya gotta love what we have seen.

Not quite as dominant so far ... Coleymon has looked okay but still not hitting his shots... He needs to slow down the game

Maybe we should sign that dunking Mexican as our nineth man?

Finished with 7pts, 10rebs, 5ast, no turnovers.

1/5 from 3 is a negative, but did just about everything else.
thanks for the updates!

anyone standout in this game? was the effort better overall?

honestly if QC can just bring this effort and all around game, even without the shooting, he becomes a great 4th or 5th option! with the shooting, watching out!

The competition was just not there, better the previous game. Very Much a mismatch...

I hope the Illini 3pt shooting curse isn’t hitting already. (from everything I’ve seen said about him, he is a very good shooter)
I feel good about his shooting. There is no rhythm to these FIBA games so far - no need to play the game correctly because the comp is so inferior; ball movement, teammate movement, opposing defender movement is all unpredictable. You get the ball when you don't expect it and vice-versa. He's gotten a lot of attempts but over half have been second-chance. Ethical hooper, as they say.
