Harper's was a prayer...kind of a 2 handed push shot off his right foot.Rutgers was behind, and it was a true buzzer beater. It's almost as good as it gets.
Also, the shot that Sylvester hit was much easier than what Harper did.

How does that make him a knucklehead? Everyone in their right mind called a double digit win for Purdue.Great game...props to Scarlet Knights..Bardo knucklehead for calling double digit win for Boilers. Edey turnover gives final life. Harper gets bucket for 1 point lead under 15 seconds for Rutgers.
But it went in, right? It doesn't matter how pretty it is in comparison to the effectiveness.Harper's was a prayer...kind of a 2 handed push shot off his right foot.

As someone who knows Bardo personally, he’s a great guy & bleeds orange and blue.Great game...props to Scarlet Knights..Bardo knucklehead for calling double digit win for Boilers. Edey turnover gives final life. Harper gets bucket for 1 point lead under 15 seconds for Rutgers.
He hides it well when he's calling an Illinois game.As someone who knows Bardo personally, he’s a great guy & bleeds orange and blue.
Well, that’s his job. He probably overcompensates a bit when calling a game as to not come across as a homer. But he could talk your ear off for hours on current and former Illini teams. He hides it well when he's calling an Illinois game.
It was kinda like some old Boston Garden magic. Weaving and turning…weight on the wrong foot…Classic Cousy meets Larry Legend meets Elaine from Seinfeld’s full body dry heave. Bottom-line, got it done!Harper's was a prayer...kind of a 2 handed push shot off his right foot.
Kinda like coaching your own kid . . .Well, that’s his job. He probably overcompensates a bit when calling a game as to not come across as a homer. But he could talk your ear off for hours on current and former Illini teams.
And it wasn’t just the last shot. It was the last three shots. The shot as time expired by Harper following the clutch shot by Williams to put Purdue back in the lead following to shot by Harper with the great moves to put Rutgers ahead. I almost turned this game off. Man, am I glad I stuck around for the finish. Amazing!Rutgers was behind, and it was a true buzzer beater. It's almost as good as it gets.

I’m disagreeing because I was at that OSU game and try to block it from my memory.Matt Sylvester nailing that 3 with 5 seconds left to keep #1 Illinois from going 30-0 in regular season play feels significantly more epic than recently-crowned #1 Purdue getting beat in week 5 on that buzzer beater. Keep in mind Illinois was #1 since week 5 that year.
Don't get me wrong, 'twas an amazing win, but I respectfully disagree with your assessment.
Oh, that one really hurt me as a then-Louisville fan as a kid, especially coming off the 1980 National Championship. Apparently, that was the first time the tournament broadcast cut away from one game to show the end of a close game, and watching the tournament has never been the same since!Man, bummed I missed that Purdue-Rutgers game last night. Anyone remember U.S. Reed from half court at the buzzer for Arkansas to beat Louisville in the tourney in '81? Harper's buzzer beater reminded me of that shot. Just rewatched it. Marv Albert had the call.
Right mind in your mind. I don't live there. Something about each has their own reality. How does that make him a knucklehead? Everyone in their right mind called a double digit win for Purdue.

Exactly. He talks TOO damn much, ladies and gentlemen.Well, that’s his job. He probably overcompensates a bit when calling a game as to not come across as a homer. But he could talk your ear off for hours on current and former Illini teams.
My son and I were at the ILL-OSU game; don't think we'll ever get over it!
Ok...I'll retract knucklehead. Rutgers was down 6 and had cut into Purdue lead when he called Purdue by double digits. How does that make him a knucklehead? Everyone in their right mind called a double digit win for Purdue.
