Gives BU options with that last ride to use next January if needed

Apologies for being late on this. Busy holiday weekend with the news coming late on a Friday caught me off guard.

Yes, but I seem to remember reading when he committed that Illini and Shannon decided that team has “option” to cut bait after one year. Not sure how that would work, and can’t remember hearing that with other player in past. Pretty sure I read that, though maybe I’m just crazy. Obviously, Shannon can leave after one year.Does Shannon have 2 yrs. eligibility left?

I love the smell of orange Kool-Aid in the morning. This has to be the most talent we've had 1 through 12 in the last 50 years at least and I don't think it's particularly close
Even our best teams weren't that deep, this is going to be fun to watch
I can understand why you find that peculiar. Or maybe mysterious would be a better word.Yes, but I seem to remember reading when he committed that Illini and Shannon decided that team has “option” to cut bait after one year. I agree about the talent depth. I also understand the pressure Underwood will feel. I think several games--if not many--will surprise us re: lineup juggling. As the old saying goes, there ain't but one ball.I love the smell of orange Kool-Aid in the morning.
I agree. Those 2000-2002 teams were as deep as the upcoming roster with proven players. 2000-2001 should have been National ChampsThose Bill Self teams were definitely deeper than this upcoming one. Maybe people are drinking kool aid and expecting all of the incoming freshmen class to step right in and be impact players, but it rarely works out so easily. I would say based on recruiting pedigree that Clark and Rodgers should be expected to be key contributors next year, you hope that Epps will be and you wait on see on the other two.
Updated! Thanks Indy!Appreciate all you do keeping up with this @BMoreIllini ...
Figured I'd help out and list some 2023 commitments ...

RJ Jones is committed to Kansas State
Cameron Christie is committed to Minnesota
Devin Royal is committed to Ohio State
Gehrig Normand is committed to Michigan State
Jamie Kaiser is committed to Maryland
Ty Pence is committed to Illinois State
Kwame Evans Jr is committed to Oregon
Xavier Booker is committed to Michigan State
Omaha Billew is committed to Iowa State
Ugonna Kinglsey Onyenso has reclassified to 2022 and committed to UK
This is his fourth year and then he has the free Covid year. Players get eligibility for the Covid year but teams aren’t obligated to keep players beyond the 4 years.
Yes, +1 means he still has the option to come back for one more year (after 22-23) because of covid.Does that mean that 22-23 isn't his +1 on the scholarship grid? Guess I don't understand how the +1 is being handled. Does it not kick in until the player uses it in year 5?
FIFYThat being said, hopefully TSJ has an amazing year and decides to come back for another one!
I think the excitement comes from having so many athletics that have NBA physical attributes. We have raw material we haven’t had in a long time and we are confident in our staff to develop them. My logic tells me that we are a year away from having a great team but my Orange aid says we will be there this year. We will get more realistic (or not) when the season starts. Right now we are undefeated.I'm not sure we're as deep as some are saying. Our best teams in the past couple decades or so, have had future NBA players, a couple with multiple guys. Some of those have been for-sure first rounders (Cook, Deron, Frankie, Leonard) that we weren't sure would come back for jr/sr years. Others were likely or borderline.
You can make a case that we have that much talent --I think there are guys that will make the league. That said, the early mocks I've seen either don't have anyone, or are pretty far down.
The aspect of playing at the same elite level at both ends seems to be ignored by 95% of forum posters and fans. However it is undeniably the measuring stick of 95%+ of coaches. Who can defend their position and end up as a plus scorer will determine playing time.I agree about the talent depth. I also understand the pressure Underwood will feel.
