Meanwhile, Cal plays Oregon tomorrow in the PAC 12 semifinal. Stayin alive.

Cal is in if they win. Might be in anyway after todays win.

It's not remotely clear to me that their resume is better than ours.

6-10 vs the Top 100 and 1-7 vs the Top 50 against our 10-13 and 3-9. Neither team has a marquee win, both have only one 100+ loss. Both fail the eye test, frankly.

And Bruce is in. 3/5 years at K-State.

Yeah, I'll be shocked if Cal is in. It would make no sense to me.

True. Poor choice of words. I think Oregon would probably give them the marquee win to squeeze in.

Yeah, I do too. Though we're starting to run out of dance cards here.

As a sidebar, this bubble has really firmed up considerably. I can't remember a year when the last teams in had the marquee quality of wins that teams like K-State and Syracuse have.

Cal, K State, Ole Miss, Xavier, Dayton, Seton Hall, Georgia, MSU all lost today, still a flickering glimmer of hope...

I mean, I went to bed in November thinking "nothing to see here, there's just no way"...and....welp?

The long epic drought in California ended in like, what, two weeks?

Finally, after the weirdest February weather....ever.....I'll buy any tourney nonsense you want to sell.

I understand they're 99.99% not going to the dance, and Groce is on his way out and we suck and it's unacceptable, etc, etc, etc...

But the narrative about losing to a team that barely made it to the arena due to the plane crash doesn't seem QUITE as awful with them knocking out Purdue one day later and then giving Minnesota a run one day after that.

And the HORRIBLE unacceptable loss to Rutgers to end the conference season doesn't seem QUITE as awful with them knocking out Ohio State.

We're not a great team. But I think being in the bubble the last few weeks and being a top NIT team sounds about right. All that will happen with Groce should happen. All the disappointed feelings of this season should happen. But the prognosticators at CBS who said at the beginning of the season we were ranked 65th out of 351. That sounds about right, you think? No better, but no worse, either.

Not that those posts had any merit, but you can put to bed any speculation that Illinois will turn down an NIT bid.

I understand, but on the postgame (Tim and Michael) show Thursday, they continued to say that Illinois made it clear to the NIT they would not accept a bid Weber's final year. Doesn't really matter anyway.

I agree, they have no intention of turning one down, nor should they.

I will not waste my time with NIT

Normally this is my attitude, but not this year. This senior class deserves a better attitude from us fans. This is one of our last chances to watch one of the all-time greats to put on the orange and blue. Morgan has worked hard and improved every single year. And Tracy has been one of the best ambassadors this university could ask for. Plus, this team has a whole has worked hard all season. I would love to see them make a run in the NIT.

I'm still holding out hope that we'll slip into the NCAA :)
