MLB Now says Cards are still in talks with Colorado for an outfielder.

Did they give any inkling on some names? It makes sense to involve with them, as always they are pitching hungry and all of their outfield starters have a left handed bat. Both teams can offer some need there.

Rockies say that Dickerson, Blackmon, and CarGo are all available. I would like Dickerson a lot if Mo makes a move. He is 26, hits for a high average and has good power. Think he would be a good fit in the offense.

Yea, they are all good. I edited my previous post before you quoted, but both can offer each other their needs. We need outfield defense with a left handed bat and they are pitching hungry.

I am curious what the package would be to get either Dickerson or CarGo. The package may be similar for either player. I personally would take Dickerson. Think he is going to be an absolute stud. Was having a big year before he got hurt

I think you are right on Dickerson. It should be interesting. I have to believe they would want a look at a Jaime Garcia type, although I think he is off the books in 2017 and don't know if he would resign there long term. A guy like Jaime could have some success there with his filthy arsenal of pitches. I would be leery to let a C-Mart, Reyes, or Marco go to anywhere. That is one electric core I want to see develop.

Could we flip Leake right away? I doubt it, but that is thought. I think he has full no trade clause anyways.

Problem with Garcia, breaking balls do not break as much at altitude.

Yea, but he much more than a breaking ball pitcher. His sinker is nasty and every one of his fast ball pitches 2 or 4 seam have a nasty tailing action. Watch some film of him when he came back, he makes for a real uncomfortable AB. He just has great movement and location on every pitch.

I agree on keeping Martinez, Reyes, and Marco. I also do not want to flip Leake. I think that he is going to be a solid guy for us in the rotation.

I would like a deal of Weaver, Ronnie Williams, and Jacob Wilson for Dickerson.

Leake has a no trade. He will be here for 5-years.

When Jaime is on, he is my favorite pitcher to watch. His stuff is flat out nasty. The batters have no idea what to expect or where the ball is going. Jaime last year was a joy to watch, but the question with him will always be health.

I think that would be more than enough for Dickerson. If they don't want Weaver, trade Flaherty as he has more upside and is younger.

I can't wait to wear my Cardinals hoodie through O'Hare tomorrow. Any guess to the number of looks or go Cubbies I get? Lol.

Marco is a Colorado guy. No clue who is in mix but assume has to be a pitcher with upside and years of control.

Leake has a great W-L record against both Cubs and Pirates. I'm feeling better about our rotation. Will still have depth if/when a starter goes down.

What do you think as a rotation?
Way too early, but I'm going:
Waino
CMart
Jaime
Leake
Wacha

I guess I just don't understand these sorts of stats....I mean what does it matter? He had a good record vs. Ryan Theriot, Geovany Soto, Carlos Pena and Alfonso Soriano? Different players, different team, past has no bearing whatsoever moving forward.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see, the good news is we'll find out soon enough. Make sure to check your schedule and let us cards fans know when the cubs are planning their banner celebration for last year's third place finish, we'd all hate to miss out on that road trip.

Rumor has it Jason Heyward and John Lackey are going to carry the banner out followed by Kyle Schwarber giving Siegrist his ball back from the top of the scoreboard. Hope you enjoyed the shellacking from the Cubs in the NLDS. Get used to it.

I was wondering how long it would take for a no-class Cub fan to come on this board with the usual lame trash talk.

Lol, cubs shellacked a team that was riddled with injuries and obviously out of gas for the last several weeks of the season. Their most consistent pitcher down the stretch was sitting the bench, their franchise catcher could barely hold a bat. Lance Lynn was pitching while needing tommy john surgery just to hold some semblance of a rotation together. Of the opening day lineup, only Carpenter, Peralta, Wong, and Heyward were playing at full-ish strength.

Congrats on taking down that juggernaut team, the cardinals limped into the playoffs and were going nowhere fast when they got there. The cubs true colors showed in the NLCS when they had to play an actual team not held together with bandaids and crazy glue. We'll see how they hold up in 2016 with some actual expectations and pressure put on them. Should be a good 3 team race.
