Wacha going in game 1 tomorrow, then Lyons in game 2. Plus, Wainwright getting activated tomorrow! With the double header, there is a very good chance he'll get in tomorrow.

By the way, in a situation like today, with a doubleheader, manager of the team turns in the line up card, with a right handed pitcher, the pitcher starts the game, throws 1 pitch. Manager pulls the pitcher, puts in a lefty starter and lets the original pitcher start game 2 instead. The batting team loaded up their lineup with leftys and now either have to burn the players for the game or leave them in. I know it would be bush league, but if it worked, I think it would be celebrated by the media. If they liked the manager/team. If it didn't work, then it would be viewed as desparate.

Sorry for the distraction, I just thought of this last night.

Figured it wouldn't be that easy. Wacha struggling is definitely a concern heading into postseason play.

Agreed. I think he's really worn down. He's never had a full season yet, and I think we are starting to see the effects of that. Hopefully he can find another gear for the playoffs, because with him struggling, Martinez out, and the way Lynn haz been laboring I really don't see enough offense magically appearing to help out. Lackey and garcia have been good, but it will take more than that, it's been our pitching that has carried us all year, gonna need it if we hope to make a run.

Heyward's play in this series alone is making him more money!

I think it's more clear than ever that we must do whatever possible to sign Heyward. Franchise player.

He won't put up the biggest numbers, won't ever, but his overall value is what gets it done. Offer 10-years $225-million with an opt-out after year 5. That gives him an opportunity to get his last big contract.

While typing this, Jay misjudged a ball in LCF. That's why Grichuk or Pham should be out there. His defense is subpar.

@CJCoch: The Cardinals for most of the season played the role of a stripper. You look, come close, but you can't touch. Never got within 1. #Pirates

WOW! What a great win! #100, Division Champs, in Pittsburgh! Not that it matters that much now, but the Cards won the season series from the Bucs as well.

And it's exactly why Matheny should be manager of the year.

One of my all time favorite comments about Matheny, from a strong critic at the Post-Dispatch website a while back - "He makes bad decisions that work out well."

Exactly. Mo better be talking to his agent this morning. The price is going UP.
