Didn’t get to watch the reunion last night. We’re Silent George and Tito Landrum there? I think Tito was on that team. I know Forsch and Porter have passed away. Anyone else? Just remembered David Green passed away too, I think.

Watching the pre-game show and Jimmy the cat interviewed Nolan Gorman .....Seems very level headed for a 22 yr old player ......he is the one I am glad who didn't get traded and if it came down to Gorman or carlson i would have been ok with Carlson being traded instead of NG.....I didn't want either to be traded to be clear....

Showed Miles M. being interviewed in the locker room and he was typical miles , wearing a cowboy hat and saying he needs to just go with the tumbleweeds and get back on the pony today...........lol

The only others that have passed away that you haven't mentioned yet are Joaquin Andujar and Kelly Paris.

I don't know if George Hendrick was there or not but my favorite story about him involved that 1982 series. Hendrick was playing right field that game. After Sutter strikes out Gorman Thomas, Hendrick turns around goes out the right field gate at old Busch, gets in his car, and leaves the park still wearing his uniform. He wasn't part of any of the postgame celebration in the locker room.

Remember listening to a game.
Jack Buck says to Shannon, “I ran into George Hendrick today. You know what he had to say?”
Shannon replied, “ no Jack, what did he say”
Dead silence!

Albert with a blast off the facade in Big Mac land .........

I really think getting Edman going again is one of the keys to the Cardinals finishing strong for the season .....
Knizner stands to close to the plate when batting and when he swings he usually is off balance..........
Of course , getting TON going again also would be huge , but Edman getting hitting again means you can start him at leadoff and having a switch hitter leading off is better for the team ..........

It’s really sad, but you’ve got 3 guys in the lineup today that will give you little to nothing offensively today.

I knew I would break the jinx!!!!

TON blasted one out to tie the game , but him , Edman and Knizner need to pick up the pace if the Cardinals are gonna make the playoffs and do some damage there .

Another Sunday home game, another key 8th inning home run that provides just enough insurance after Helsley gives up a 9th inning homer.

Cardinals take 2 out of 3 from the Brewers and have a 1.5 game lead. Teams have 4 games remaining against each other (2 in St. Louis in mid-September, 2 in Milwaukee at the end of a road trip in late September).

For those looking to scoreboard watch this week, the Cardinals have a day off tomorrow before hosting the Rockies for 3 and traveling to Arizona for 3. The Brewers start a 4 game series at home vs. the Dodgers tomorrow before playing at Wrigley next weekend for 3.

At this point, the only way to explain it is to concede it’s inexplicable.
Yes, Albert Pujols still trains very hard and practices and prepares and all that stuff. But this is mind-blowingly beyond. Forty-two-year-old Pujols, drafted before some 2022 teammates were born, hit two homers Sunday in the Cardinals’ most important game of the season.
The first Busch Stadium blast went to Big Mac Land. The second homer, with the Cardinals up 3-2 in an airtight bottom of the eighth, felt like a walk-off. The three-run shot essentially won the game against the Brewers — and thus won the series against the Brewers — who leave St. Louis 1½ games back of the Cards for the NL Central lead and wondering just what year it is.

Sunday’s game, with the divisional ramifications, was an event. And Albert was the show.
“We’ve got guys in the dugout getting goosebumps,” winning pitcher Miles Mikolas said. “As good of a player as he is now and as good as he’s been hitting lately, to remember he has been doing it forever, since I was in elementary school probably, is crazy.

“He’s not coasting into the Hall of Fame at all. He’s going to kick down that door.”
After the game on the Fourth of July, Pujols’ OPS was .604. After Sunday’s 6-3 win, Pujols’ OPS is up to .784. That’s like a regular starter’s OPS.
Against lefties, it’s 1.048. Against lefties, Albert Pujols hits like he’s Albert Pujols.

We are witnessing theater of the absurd.
He’s not supposed to still be this good, right?

Since the All-Star break, he’s hitting .389 in 36 at-bats, with four homers and 10 RBIs in 13 games.
Pujols still pulverizes baseballs with astonishing force.
His off-of-Lidge-like homer in the eighth inning went 443 feet — the second-farthest homer by any player at Busch this season.

To clear time for Dakota Hudson to make adjustments they feel ultimately will help him within starts, the Cardinals are “leaning toward” skipping his next scheduled start, his manager said.
With an off day Monday and a wish to maximize the appearances of newcomers Jose Quintana and Jordan Montgomery, the Cardinals plan to rearrange their pitching rotation and not have Hudson make his next turn. The Cardinals will begin this week’s visit from Colorado with Quintana starting Tuesday and can have Montgomery and Adam Wainwright on normal rest for the remainder of the three-game series.
That frees up Hudson to throw an additional bullpen session before returning to the rotation on the upcoming trip.

“It would be good to give him extra time — that’s a big part of it,” Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said. “(You could) go two ways. The extra touches there could help him. He’s working on figuring some stuff out, and getting back out there could be useful. But doing an extra bullpen session could also help.”
During his start at Coors Field last week, Hudson allowed only two runs on four hits and utilized his slider on the way to a season-high six strikeouts. The right-hander did what coaches have asked him to do and worked with a far swifter pace, and he said afterward that he felt the difference of “the defense engaged, kept the ball on the ground for the most part and trying to do what I can to help win a game.” He also walked four batters — three of them on four pitches.

The unfortunate thing about Pujols and Dejong hitting well, is Donovan is losing ABs.

But he can play so many different positions, I would like to see Oli get a little more creative to get him in the lineup. Maybe give Edman and/or Carlson some extra time off.

Not being an expert by any means, I think Dakota should be sent down for a couple of weeks to clear his head and work things out. It seems to have helped DeJong.

I also feel Edman needs to clear his head too. Carlson might also need a clearing of the head.

I don't disagree but after all the reports including Carlson in a trade for Soto was a nonstarter, it'll take multiple years of him doing a 2020-early 2022 Paul DeJong impersonation for him to get sent down for anything other than a rehab assignment.

As for Dakota, maybe give Pallante his rotation spot and send Dakota to the pen for mop up work (though maybe we have too many mop up guys already right now). Maybe he just needs some shorter outings out of the pen. Or maybe this is just who he is, a pitch to contact guy who issues a lot of walks. It's who he's always been and unfortunately a pretty bad combo.
