You know you are playing the string out when your bottom 3 batters are

7. Motter
8. PDJ
9. Knizner

Murders Row , why even take a bat up to the plate.......??

Maysn Winn and Victor Scott ll could provide huge advances to this offense. speed, on base percentage
gives us a big step forward. Out with the old, in with the new. tired of all these guys playing out of position.
a real center fielder (Scott) and a real Shortstop makes the other pieces fall into place. now, lets trade
outfielders for pitching. (O'neill, Dejong, Carlson, Burleson could get us top pitching prospects?) oh, and rotate
Gorman into the DH spot so we can get Edman back into the infield. Noot, VSII, Walker with Donovan
rotating into all the above,( keep 3 gloves ready). Burleson will be adequate in a corner until VS2 is ready.

Think about the middle infield of Wynn and Edman! goldy and nado might make it the strongest in the
league.

Players won't give up but Cardinals have been in 2024 mode for awhile. I can see Winn getting the call up but not Scott II. Throwing Scott II from AA to the majors would be a mistake.

Best case is guys like Herrera, Winn and some youth get more at bats/playing time while Scott II maybe bumped up to AAA.

Happ knocks Contreras out of the game with an atrocious back swing. MLB has to address this. Mikolas shouldn't have to handle this. And then the star of "The Ump Show" throws Mikolas out of the game with no warning. If a catcher interferes with the batter, batter gets to go to first. But let the batter knock the catcher out the pitcher handle's it and they throw out the pitcher. So Happ's on first. Contreras gone. Mikolas gone. Marmol gone. Genius! The rule should be: first offense, batter out. Second offense: batter ejected.

The top of the 3rd was as good a history lesson regarding Hudson's difficulties as you can get.........He has numerous times in his career gotten the first 2 batters out and then regressed to give up runs without closing out the inning.......When you combine that with his inability to command the strike zone and then you have a deficit staring at you..............

A story told in pictures. I’ve never seen such a bungled mess by the umps. Lose your starting battery mates and your manager and the other guy gets a base. Oh and the cards didn’t want to blow up the bullpen for this game so we had to shlep Hudson out there. It was painful but we had to do it. Rickey Horton mentioned that MLB sometimes will hand out suspensions to pitchers who’ve thrown at players in retaliation more frequently the last few seasons.

The pictures are out of sequence. Cubs are laughing after Happ has been hit. First base is occupied in the picture. Out of order like they are makes it look like they are laughing at Willson being hit which is not the case.

The other picture that is missing is Mikolas' first pitch after Contreras left the game. He missed Happ way up and in. If he had connected on the first pitch, he would have been fine. The umps aren't gonna give a pitcher 2 tries to make a point. It was absolutely intentional and the correct call.

There was about as much intention on Happ's part as there would have been if he tipped a ball into Willson's groin. They played together for a lot of years and are good friends.
And even though I'm a Cub fan I'm coming from a viewpoint that my family is close to Willson. He came to my grandson's birthday party last year.
