St Louis Cardinals 2024

This spring is just how I like it. The Illini to a second weekend which leads me right into the MLB season. It just fits perfect this year, with the Cardinals and Illini playing on the same day. I doubt that's happened too many times.

I'm a little less optimistic the Cardinals can take me all the way to November this year, when Illini basketball starts again.

Cardinals' Dylan Carlson out weeks; Victor Scott to start

With Dylan Carlson sidelined for several weeks with a shoulder injury, speedster Victor Scott will be the starting center fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals on Opening Day, manager Oliver Marmol said Tuesday.

An MRI revealed that Carlson suffered a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder Monday night after landing hard on the warning track following a collision with teammate Jordan Walker. Carlson will return to St. Louis instead of traveling with the team for Thursday's opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers, president John Mozeliak told reporters.

Carlson's injury is the latest setback to the Cardinals' outfield. Tommy Edman, who was originally expected to start in center field, is on the IL with a wrist injury. Left fielder Lars Nootbaar received the same designation because of fractured ribs.

Carlson had taken advantage of Edman's absence to lead the Cardinals in spring training with three home runs and 13 RBIs.

The 23-year-old Scott, meanwhile, will be the beneficiary of the team's bad luck. He earned a non-roster invite to spring training after stealing 94 bases between Class-A Peoria and Double-A Springfield last season.

I bet that really irritates the FO that they have to start the clock on Scott so soon.

Scott is 23 and Cardinals have him locked up for 6 years. Front office is probably more ticked off almost every outfielder except for Scott is injured/banged up. My hope is Scott performs and never gets sent down. Scott in CF, Walker in RF and fine with Edman/Nootbaar/Carlson/Donovan fight it out for LF.

Scott needs to be starting and not riding the pine.....whichever level he is assigned

I will be at the game today in LA and will change to Illini gear after to watch the game at a much better time than those in attendance. I still can't believe we will be wrapping up around midnight in Boston. Anyway, go Cardinals and (this afternoon) Go Illini! I would love a 2-0 day.

I guess it is good that we don't have to pretend to be what we aren't. We just get to be who we are. I don't mind being an underdog on Opening Day. I just want to have another ring for our boys in October. Go Cards!

And thanks, Pru, for sharing the STL media with the forum. I really really do enjoy it...

The time is drawing near. This is probably the most strange I've felt about a team in my life. For sure my adult life. Last year was something I've only experience twice since I've been out of the house. I hope we have the magic back. Our division is too winnable.
The first 4 series could be a tone setter. I'm hoping we can manage .500 in those games. Let's go Birds!
I'm booking more tickets for the Dodgers series in August. I'm a big all in-clusive guy. Champions Club is my go-to, but has anyone been to the 703 club? I'm on the fence.

Since STL Today went to subscription required for most Cardinal's articles I figured SOME people would like to read the articles......

Glad you enjoy it........

Miles just isn't a good matchup for us against the Dodgers. He will blow nothing by anyone and has to have pinpoint control on edges. He can do that, but these Dodgers are legit and if he isn't locating, Mookie and Freddie know what to do.

We get a deal on Champions Club tickets from a family friend of ours for the one game a year we go to. It's really awesome and a lot of fun to sit in.

The 703 Club is a new club section for this year. It's where the Budweiser Bowtie Bar & Left Field Porch were in the past.
