I checked my comcast lineup and I DO get fanduel! I guess this means I'll be able to watch Cards games, huh? I love Masyn Winn. He's Ozzie Smith but with a stronger arm. But I can't see this Cards team with a winning season.

Is FanDuel only offering streaming? Or are they going to be included in cable packages like Bally?

The half-in/half-out approach is going to kill this club. It's clear ownership doesn't want to go all-in, and also doesn't want to do a real rebuild that'll temporarily tank attendance. Instead we'll get middling results again, probably for the foreseeable future.
After seeing the attendance figures from last year, I do not think average results will bring the fans back very quickly.

They are included in cable/satellite packages but some companies aren't carrying RSNs anymore or are carrying them on a higher subscription level. I know Dish Network is already out of carrying them and I think YouTube TV may be as well. I use it for streaming because Xfinity has it in a higher package than I'm willing to pay.

Thanks. I saw that our local cable provider offers it and it's in the package I have so I should be okay. Unless I decide to cancel the whole thing. $246/mo just to have TV/Internet is too rich for me.

Well if you have an Amazon Prime Video subscription, you can add it to that for an extra $20/month.

Mo gets a lot of flack but honestly he kept the team competitive for a long time on a tight budget. It's impossible to do that forever. In the time Mo has been GM the Cards have the 7th most postseason wins. Every team above the Cards on this list consistently has a higher payroll than us.

so tell me why he/s a lame duck VP/GM. nothing good comes form him hanging around one more year.
don't tell me what he did, tell me what he's doing. he ripped apart minor league instruction, the biggest
thing the franchise had going for it for decades. now they are trying to correct the mistake.

Good relief pitcher, weird signing. Are we competing this year? Are we rebuilding? Are we committed to a "youth movement" as it has previously been described? If yes to the last one, why do we have so many old guys still on the roster and why are we signing more? How is Nolan Arenado still a Cardinal?
when you go on tv/radio and say publicly "were open for business, who want arenado while arenado has a no trade and wants to dodgers,
you are screwed. bad business.... do they somehow think they can make arenado look bad?

Not sure what this means to be honest, but here is the deal with Arenado.

If you are all-in on this youth movement, trade Arenado for whatever you can get. A couple middling prospects. A career AAAA guy. A bag of balls. Shed as much of his salary as possible and open up 3B to see which of your prospects can play there at the big league level. What is the point of paying Arenado $30 million to block prospects from playing, for a team that isn't competing.

If you want to compete, then do it. Raise payroll. Spend another $60-75 million to surround Arenado with talent. Too late for this now of course but it would have been possible to turn this into a playoff team if ownership was willing to commit to a top-10 payroll. The Cardinals didn't do that.

At this point Arenado provides negative value to what the Cardinals are trying to do. All he does is block opportunities for this so called "youth movement."

let me make it clear... no one wants him unless we cover his salary and he'll accept only two or three teams

I agree, the lame duck thing doesn't make sense, but that's ownership call. Mo doesn't have the power to make BDW do that.

He didn't rip anything apart, farm system just didn't get invested in because the team has been in win now mode for the last quarter century. In other words, we've never done a rebuild. Teams can spend their way out of needing to rebuild but we didn't do that either.

sorry. i was typing a little to fast with too much coffee this morning. its my understanding we literally trimmed staff at the minor league level. no traveling instructors for the last 5 years. that was the strength of our system.

Nobody is asking us to cover his entire salary, just a significant portion. And we should do it. What value does he provide a team that does not intend to compete and wants to see where it is at with its major league ready prospects?

Right after Covid they did not fill many open positions because of financial constraints imposed by ownership. This is documented. Ownership wanted to win and wanted to keep costs low. Something has to give.

i still think that what gave is player development. through the years that has been a key to the cards success.
that's a huge mistake. a good GM should know better and provide ownership counsel. like it or not Moz is the
face of that mistake.

Yes to this. If they have to cover half the $$ they should have done it. At this point they are praying he has a good first half so they can make it happen at the TD. If he doesn't the chance to trade is prolly over.

Of course that's what gave. And sure, Mo is the face of it. That's his job. But when your boss tells you to do something, yes you can push back, but at the end of the day if he doesn't change his mind, you don't really have much of a choice. It's BDW's money and he ultimately decides what it gets spent on.

Sonny Gray announced as Opening Day starter.
Mikolas and Matz look better this spring than Gray. He has given up 15 ER in 9.2 innings pitched while allowing 6 HR and walking 6. I know we shouldn't pay attention completely to spring stats but last year Gray was bitten by the HR bug and I'm worried it could be trending that way again this year.

Watched the Cardinals - Blue Jays replay of their game Sunday and it was the first time seeing Jordan Walker's new batting stance....
Gone is the tip toe approach with his left foot........my thought is good for him , at the least he won't be falling down as he chases all those sliders out of the strike zone...................

i guess i would only add that the few hundred thousand spent on player development pails in comparison to the bad contracts and trades
Moz has given us over the last 5 years. good riddance. at some point its not all the ownerships fault. (and i'm no fan of the Dewitt's)

But again, Mo has outperformed the budget he was given. Every front office has bad trades. If you think Bloom is not going to make bad trades you will be sorely disappointed.
