I get the frustration with not being able to free up 3B. However, if we were to trade Arenado for a bucket of balls when he still has 2 years on his contract after this season, everyone would be screaming bloody murder if he is even a 2 or 3 WAR player for his next stop. I don't think this prohibits us from seeing what Gorman has to offer at 3B as Arenado will definitely be DH for at least 30+ games this season, ASSUMING he stays with us all season. I think the Cardinals and Arenado both want to see him have a solid first half and build up his value.
I really like the direction they are heading with Chaim Bloom. I know Red Sox fans are angry about his trades not working out, but most would tell you that his development of the farm system was exceptional. If we can have Chaim focus on that this year, let the major leaguers show him what they have, and build the roster for next year with a plan to have a pipeline of cost controlled, major league ready players with 4 or 5 star talents in the next few years, we can have another great run of sustained success. We can't do it through Free Agency and Trades anymore because our farm system just hasn't produced (yet).
