We finally did something... I had to stop refreshing mlbtraderumors.com and espn and mlb.com and go work on my higher networked systems at work. Not pleased that they went to the Brewers, but it doesn't really matter when we were competing for a division title this year and they both have expiring contracts.

My guess is the front office figures keeping them in the division by sending them to Milwaukee hurts the Cubs chances of making a late season run for the divisional title. Who knows. Maybe they simply offered the best in return and as you said it's a short term rental.

looks like Cardinals are clear winners in this trade getting Brewers # 11 and # 13 prospects in return.....one story stated Bloom fleeced the Brewers.........more to come ???

Frias according to fangraphs is the #43 prospect in baseball and ragsdale has been on a terror this year - both have really strong bat velo metrics too.

Feels like cardinals did quite well here… very easily could have just gotten two outfield prospects who will rank higher than even the outfielder they took at 13 overall - kinda nuts

These guys we got have the potential to make the Brewers regret this decision to trade within the division for years. Unless the Brewers win the World Series, in which case they won't care either way. Hopefully someone beats the damn Dodgers.

Good work here by front office, good return.

Not a "fleecing." Classic trade that addresses different areas of need for each team. Brewers needed May for their postseason run with Woodruff now out for the season, and had a lot of talent stocked up in the farm. These two guys are both at least a couple years out, so given that Brewers are set to contend this year and 2027 (if it happens) makes sense to send out the further away prospects. For us, makes sense to take the further away prospects, and we really needed OF talent in the system, it was a big area we were lacking.
