I think Burleson gets his 2 years of arb and 2-3 more years in a 4-5 yr contract @ $ 52-65 million ........maybe more years depending on collective bargaining whether strike or not.........Walker & Winn next bunch of extensions.....DeWitt jr... stated as much after J J got extended......

I see our offense from July showed up tonight. Pitcher with an ERA over 6 entering the game, and we look hapless through 4.
I can't speak about the players selected this year but I do believe many organizations draft a talented High School SS and then move them to other positions in the minors. A lot of times the SS is the most athletic player on a HS team.
Why the Cardinals did not trade these 3 players who were rumored to be moved

I’m not disagreeing that burly isn’t a great dude. I have no idea, but would trust the reports you put out here as well.
But candidly, the same thing was said about Donovan before we moved him, and that’s turned into a good trade.
With a potential lost year looming, I’m surprised one of Burleson or Herrera wasn’t dealt. That said, the same rationale I gave on Donovan can be true here - they waited to deal him in the offseason, and they still got a good deal.
This is true - however, Maniscalco is definitely meant to stick at shortstop. His calling card was elite defense at that spot, and it’s his bat that’s the major risk.
However, Dee Kennedy, will probably not stick at shortstop - tho there’s seems to be conflicting info there
With Rocco being only 17, and Dos Santos and Padilla being 18 and 19, I really don’t think we have a SS threatening. I’d just prefer keep Winn

my thoughts are Walker , Wetherholt , Burleson and Herrera will be the core of the team for the next 3-4 years .....Winn maybe there too , but his hitting needs to pick up as his D is Gold Glove level.........
the BP needs to be overhauled this coming off season with new faces either by trades or promoting from the farm......
Crooks is not the answer at catcher going forward....struck out on a ball helmet high .........JMHO ..............
