Streaming services for college FB

Thinking about cutting the cord, which streaming services would be recommended? Looking at youtube tv base package, as they carry BTN, SEC, ESPN, Fox sports local Chicago networks(CBS especially), which are non-negotiable must-haves. Any reviews on streaming quality or any other issues would be appreciated.

This article is from late June, so the pricing mentioned on here may not be updated. Good starting point though. I've had YouTubeTV, Hulu Live and Sling over the years. Personally I prefer YouTubeTV overall, plus Hulu Live just raised their prices slightly. So I'm switching back to YouTubeTV next month. That's one of the nice things about streaming, easy to cancel one service and switch to another.

Yep, YouTube TV is my top choice.

I use YouTube TV. Great access from anywhere (major perk over cable/satellite), priced appropriately, good user interface, easy to get your programs scheduled to record. I also was able to pause it really easily. As you mentioned, it has all the good stations, too. All of the conference networks, local stations, CBSSports, ESPN, FS1, etc. After the Stanley Cup Finals, with MLB being the only thing going on, I hit pause on my subscription and set it start again this week, just in time for College Football, without having to remember that I need to restart it.

It ultimately depends on what your preferences are and must haves. I currently carry Fubo as my primary "cable" equivalent; however, I also have to bundle other apps to maximize my need (I have ESPN+, Paramount+, Apple Plus through T-Mobile, and until recently the premium version of Peacock). If you want the maximum number of football games, you may need to also carry ESPN+, and unfortunately Peacock. Paramount+ is also a good service, but moreso for overseas soccer (but it does include CBS Chicago...though any digital antenna can also get that). It is incredibly frustrating, as each app seems to have exclusive content that we need, that you can't get in one streaming service.

Therefore, find the cheapest base streaming service (Fubo, YouTube TV, Sling, etc.) and then add in some other services that are necessary. When all is said and done, with all the apps, my monthly bill is about 3/4 my final cable bill from 3 years ago. However, if I still had cable, I would still need to bundle in other apps that are not on cable, so I 100% recommend cutting the cord.

When it comes to streaming quality, every service has made leaps and bounds over the last few years. I have not had any issues in the last year or so, but it is also because I have premium internet speeds. So before cutting the cord, make sure that you have your internet situation squared away. One key for my household is having unlimited streaming data for internet, as we would blow by what Xfinity allows. The people that complain about glitches in these streaming qualities likely do not have appropriate internet upload and download speeds.

I will have to sign up for one after week 1 to be able to watch the rest of the season. I am leaning towards Hulu just because I can get hulu, Hulu live, Disney plus, and ESPN + for the same price as YouTube tv.

I already have Hulu, but you can't get BTN on Hulu...

Been on YTTV for around 6 or 7 years now. Service is good. They’ve been creeping up the price over the years and adding fairly useless channels, looking more and more like traditional cable. But the unlimited DVR is very useful and gets used heavily in my house. Can theoretically record everything on tv.

Biggest downside, imo, is that you can only have three devices logged in at a time. Can be an issue if you have a big family or if some people are traveling. Hasn’t been an issue for us as we only have 1 tv.

Overall, meets our needs and is a bit cheaper than an equivalent cable subscription.

We are getting ready to switch to Hulu live tv. Shows it has BTN.
Getting away from DirecTV.

What ??...................I've been on Hulu Live + for 6 + years and have ALWAYS had BTN..........They raise their prices usually every 1-2 years but it's worth it to me........DVR is unlimited now with all recording's having a 9 month window........the on demand catalog is impressive and getting the ESPN + and Disney + included is what keeps me with Hulu...........
BTW , their customer service is the best I have ever encountered for any service I have subscribed to.........

I do binge watching for most on demand shows but if its a multi season show and it's still having new episodes shown , those new episodes are NOT ad free..........I pay $ 5.00 more for the ad free bonus.........it's well worth the $$ for me and the shows seem to have a lot better clarity and never have buffer issues....................

One more big endorsement for YTTV here. I only have it for September to March/April annually for Illini Sports. I add BTN+ at $10/month during the Illini Women Basketball season. As mentioned above, very easy to switch on and off.

I've used Hulu for several years, as I'm an avid movie watcher... AND I know I'm old, but I can't find a link or any selection that indicated BTN on it... So, while I'm NOT from Missouri, someone will have to SHOW ME... Is 'Hulu Live +' different from Hulu ? ?

Yep , I think it is now that I think about it..................I've only had Hulu Live + ever since I signed up with them..........Have you ever went to the Hubs tab and searched for BTN ??..............Also I think it's where you live whether or not you can get BTN on Hulu.......

I had someone tell me they had Hulu for $ 19.95 a month and I found out they only got like 25 channels......

I hope you can find it on your TV , maybe call customer service and see if it's available in your area......Good Luck.......

The post above my post says it best.........I was replying to your post and then saw Illini2010-11 post afterwards.........

Heading up into the mountains for the weekend and was looking for a free trial streaming service. Only 1 I could find that offered a trial and you can record is FuboTV. So gonna give that a shot 🤞
That is the service I have, and I can't complain...though prices are always increasing every year.
