Talen Horton-Tucker commits to Iowa State

#51
People are acting like UI is some sort of basketball mecca and THT bleeds orange and blue. If this was his dream school he could've committed a long time ago.

We need talent to win. If BU doesn't get Ayo this class is seen as a complete dissapointment. BU's job is not to try and please everyone, he's here to win games.

Oh.....if Ayo were to change direction (i highly doubt it), then BU will look like an !!! and it would be really tough to recover.

Ayo + whoever and it's fine.

Oh well, good luck to THT for the Cyclones.

Still glad to know Ayo is 100% committed to Illinois. Can't wait to see him in the O&B in 2018. Still a good class with him and the freshman the way it is. Focus on the upcoming season and win games. Make the NCAA Tournament.

Man, I feel terrible for him. Playing for Iowa State is still a pretty great outcome, though. I hope he kills it there.

It’s hard to see a kid go through that. I’ve never felt this way about a recruitment

Ben Wilson is turning in his grave! If your Illinois, you just don't do that to Simeon, period.

In regards to my previous post about Simeon, and this may be a better fit for the recruiting thread... but how many times has Illinois been burned by Chicago? You can only put your hand to the stove so many times before you get burned bad enough and learn your lesson!

Maybe BU did what none of us wanted to do but had to be don... he had to choose to not get burned MULTIPE TIMES, and in doing so, Illinois burned Chicago right back! The evil irony is we would burn a Chicago program that has been so good to us over the years smh!

Welp. There likely goes our Simeon pipeline. :(

Pipeline? LOL

We've gotten Nunn, Williams, Tate and Brock in this millennium.

Even if this does sour relations, Simeon hasn't done anything for us.

In signing Ayo, MIF will have done more for us in one year than Simeon has in the last 15.

That's ridiculous. If Simeon pushed Jabari Parker and Derrick Rose to Illinois, fine. Then there's grounds to make that statement.

This isn't 1990. There is no "pipeline".

Yeah, BU's job is to pull an offer from a kid the morning before his commitment and upset the coach of the top high school program in Illinois over the last 20 years. Hopefully we get all the top tier players from MIF because Chicago high school and other say coaches will remember this. Very bad day for Illinois basketball. If you don't think Robert Smith talks to other coaches and other programs won't use this against us, you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Yup, totally going to destroy our chicago relationships :hand:

And what pipeline was that?

Tate, Nunn and DJ Williams who came to UI

Or

Derick Rose and Jabari Parker, who didnt bother with us?

There is no pipeline. MIF gave us more in one day than Simeon has since Deon Thomas.

Who have they given us ? ? ? ? you can not say AYO cause till he steps on the court nothing is a given we have already seen that

Pipelines or not does anyone feel good seeing a 16 year old go through that.

Pipeline! Lol.

More like here's our table scraps

I agree 100%. If a choice had to be made, he made the right one. Hate to be the one to break the news, but this is recruiting in the big boy world. This won't be the last quagmire that we're involved in. All we can ask is that we win our share

Terrible.. kid cried tears of betrayal. I'm getting on the expressway. Couldn't turn down the chance to see the kid commit, especially with it open to the public unlike last week. Can't do anything but wish him the best. See if a big will come & call it a class.

There appears to be some parallels and overlap between what happened today with Illini basketball and the current state of our country's politics, wow. Best to you in the future, THT.
