Introducing TSJ 2.0

And the Season of Redemption.

May orange and blue rain unleash from the sky henceforth, and comprehensively flood the college basketball earth.

Today is a day of many heavy emotions set free.

I doubt the university knows what's its going to do at this point in time since the decision just came out today. A lot to digest. Of course they can try to suspend him again under a different process than the one they used which is probably the way they'd proceed rather than try to move to reconsider or appeal the courts decision. But there's a lot to digest and consider. I'm just going to enjoy ILL basketball and be prepared for anything that may come. That TRO was a hail Mary. Pretty impressive win
The school has been well prepared for either scenario. They didn’t just put out a statement that was thrown together in an hour.

Very interesting and new TSJ reinstatement discussion on Field of 68 on YouTube.

Can someone bring a few dozen (few hundred perhaps?) official TSJ NIL jerseys to the NU game plz? I want to wear one but his NIL store is closed and I don't want one if $ doesn't go to TSJ. Maybe a pop-up TSJ shop in the parking lot?

From the previous thread @Illini034. I had the same thought that since Josh is a really, really smart lawyer, that maybe this is how he hoped it would turn out. In the 50+ years I’ve been a Illini fan, Josh is my favorite AD, and I’ve thought he has been fantastic in almost everything he’s done until now. I believe he originally had good intentions with his three person panel, but realized his process is flawed, and now he’s going to have to revamp his three person panel concept to include a true element of fairness…
100% agree.

I don’t see JW or the university trying to keep this going. They did what they were suppose to at the beginning. Now they can hang their hat on “we responded accordingly, but was overruled by the courts.”

That’s our society. Sometimes we have to act based on perspective but hope that the alternative happens.

No one throws the future of their basketball program into the hands of a randomly selected judge.

I think the three person panel needs more info to act. Unless they feel like they have the full evidence, they're not going to act. I don't see the university putting a policy in place that would just automatically keep someone on the team with a presumption of innocence. That's just not where we're at right now in society and at a university level it wouldn't fly.
I dont know. I still find it coincidental that he wasn’t allowed to speak in person to the panel. That seemed to be part of the lack of due process and something the University could have done very easily, and not sure why they wouldnt want to hear from him in person. Either way, enough conspiracy theory. Just glad it worked out and both sides got what they ultimately wanted.

I think that's easier said than done. The judge's ruling makes it clear that the policy is bunk, basically, and that she believes the conduct panel railroaded him. If they followed the letter of the policy, then the policy is unenforceable and they need to write a new one in a hurry that affords the necessary protections.
The judge pointed to the OSCR as likely sufficient, and Josh Whitman said that would be running in parallel, so UIUC presumably just needs to let that run its course. I have no idea of the timeline for that, and if they can really move forward with an out-of-state accuser.

The Court stated that NIL has changed everything. We ain't in Kansas anymore.;) The balance of power has shifted

I said it once before, but I think it is important to understand that it is ok to support Shannon's return while not treating him like a returning hero. I know we are excited right now about having him back on the team, but he still has serious charges pending against him. The evidence we know of right now is extremely thin, and I am hopeful that he will eventually be fully exonerated, but at the same time I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a Shannon jersey. It is possible to support him and root for him on the court while also showing a bit of restraint in how we treat him as fans.

Brad has to start him , ,imo
I don't know, I actually agree with what a previous poster said.

1. Start the same five guys that got you a Big Ten road win at Michigan.

2. Put Shannon in as a sub early - after the game has started and on TV - to a loud and long standing ovation from Illini Nation to show we have his back.

I can already see Coleman laughing hysterically at the crowds
As long as he keeps his emotions somewhat in check. I’m more worried about something a fan says setting off a teammate trying to protect TSJ more than TSJ himself reacting.
