Similar to what I see/read from nearly every DEFENSE attorney in the United States.Strong statement from his attorney. Innocent and intends to take to trial.

There is zero chance TSJ will be in the orange and blue if he pleads guilty to sexual battery. WTF?Wishful thinking here: The second charge is there to provide a route to a quick plea bargain where TJ pleads to a misdemeanor, pays a fine, and returns to the Assembly Hall in short order.

The fact that this made it to national news and TJS was already "lawyered up" and ready to take this to trial, leads me to believe that a quick plea bargain went bye bye a while back.Wishful thinking here: The second charge is there to provide a route to a quick plea bargain where TJ pleads to a misdemeanor, pays a fine, and returns to the Assembly Hall in short order.
Not likely, but also not impossible.
Just a quick google check on the non-anonymized name. Could legitimately be someone else, but a nurse in Lawrence came up as the first search result.Where do you see a reference to a nurse as a witness?
I'm sorry what? You want either:Wishful thinking here: The second charge is there to provide a route to a quick plea bargain where TJ pleads to a misdemeanor, pays a fine, and returns to the Assembly Hall in short order.

I would think that if TJ pleads guilty to sexual battery, he will probably not be returning to the team at all.Wishful thinking here: The second charge is there to provide a route to a quick plea bargain where TJ pleads to a misdemeanor, pays a fine, and returns to the Assembly Hall in short order.

Merit of charge….. from my years in law enforcement they throw big at the wall so you bid down or buy out. He will get assault if that even happenedRegarding merit of a charge, what is the threshold? Can I just walk into the police office and make a crime claim and get someone arrested? Doesn't it seem there was some effort to establish a viable case here before a charge was filed, especially since it says they all knew about this since September?

Is it possible that ICON continued to direct dollars to him? Did the DIA inform ICON?I cannot comprehend that this actually happened. I cannot comprehend how and when this actually happened. I cannot comprehend how the university knew of these allegations and just pretended like nothing was wrong this whole time. What are we actually doing here?
You mean be given the presumption of innocence? The tragedy to this promising basketball season is irrelevant in contrast to the tragedies facing Shannon and the accuser.
Horrified by the reaction of many Illini fans. Immediately attacking the assistant district attorney in Lawrence in a desperate attempt to undermine the credibility of the charge is shocking.
My hope is that Shannon is innocent, but until then he should be treated like every other person charged with rape.

I know 0440 posted it and I think lville did too stating simply “TSJ is a good kid”. I may be reading into that too much, but what I gathered from it is that there is a clear presumption that our guy did nothing wrong in the legal sense.I've been hoping to see a post from one of our insiders saying how Brad/the university share the same belief as TSJ and his lawyer that he's innocent..
But Indy lville mad 0440 have all posted without saying anything of the sort.
Hope it's due to a lack of information to this point and not conflicting beliefs
We literally have bozos here talking about taking plea deals, wondering why victim of the case's full name isn't revealed, or when he can come back to the team. Yes its obvious its bigger than basketball. But some people apparently need a reminder.Enough with the holier than thou attitude please. Of course this is bigger than basketball. Of course the impact on the lives of those involved is devastating.
But talking about the impact to the team, and scenarios where he might come back earlier than expected, are entirely appropriate on an Illinois sports forum. If it offends so much feel free to take this to another form of media.
