I've been very happy with the rebranded football uniforms. Not having the updated logo at midfield is terrible and the lighting bolts or "feathers" on the basketball uniforms are terrible.

Yea, perhaps . I just really don't understand why both blue & orange accents couldn't be used .

Oh well . I'm not king........

Black and white photos back then, I guess. Personally, I think a bit of orange and blue accents would have made the design really pop.

Really wish they would have just gone with a more "modern" (tighter fitting) etc look to this look:

Skip the "gray" part of it.

Think something along the lines of an upgraded this:

I think the gray uniforms are going to look really really sharp on the field. Can't wait to see Ferg make guys miss.

Oh god, seriously? You liked those?
I didn't mind them. I think it's a uniform that if tweaked now, and made to look a bit sleeker would look pretty decent. Especially if Illinois went with a helmet like the Redskins used a few years ago that looked leather.

I'm not going to say they are the best looking things ever but I think the gray ones are terrible and as the comment below says I think if you "honor" Grange you wear a uniform that he wore.

If the players and some people like them. Cool. No big deal. I'd just like to see them go more "authentic" with the throwback look.

If you are honoring Red Grange, those are what you wear.
Agree.

I like the gray uniform. It looks sharp, it's different, and it's getting noticed.

That said, if they're the Gray Ghost jerseys, and they use a "Grange #77" in the picture, and they make their little overlapping "77" logo... WHY not sell the jersey with #77 instead of #6? If you're hitting all the Grange angles, play it up!

If it was a #77 Grange for sale, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. With the #6, meh.

I completely agree. I'd seriously considering dropping the $100 if it was #77

Yup, that's where I'm at too. With it being a jersey of a deceased player (not sure if that matters) but would they actually sell it with Grange on the back no just blank like the replicas of the current players?

There were Butkus #50 jerseys available once upon a time, and he's still around. Why not Grange? Send the royalties to his family.

Surprising that they'd go to all this effort of promoting the Grange angle, and then not sell the #77 (name plated or not). Seems like it would be obvious (and a big seller).

These will be the worst uniforms an Illinois team has ever worn, at least until the basketball team wears their grey uniforms.

Just a totally non-sensical look, and I give it a 2% chance that Grange was even a slight consideration into the creation of these uniforms. Nothing more than a half-clever back story to justify the look.

Basketball shorts in Orange and blue have shown up on fightingillini.com. Already out of xl in the Orange somehow. It appears to be the cheap version and not the sewn on version

Unless there's some sort of appropriation issue with selling #77 jerseys, that's a huge miss by Nike to sell the #6 instead of the #77.

People would actually buy a Grange jersey. But a grey Ferguson jersey...? lol

Do any schools sell alumni jerseys, or only current athletes to avoid the royalty? You'd think UNC basketball would always be selling#23 jerseys.
