I don't think they're able to put them there because of the inserts underneath the sleeves.

Hey all, I had an update on the Shield practice hoodie a lot of people were asking about. Upshot is it won't be available unless we ask for it en masse, so if you want it, I suggest providing feedback to Nike. I posted about this in the Nike rebrand thread, too (with a pic of the hoodie in question).

Good Morning Weim,
This e-mail was transferred to me and am pleased to say that I am also a fellow Illinoisian! I lived in Tuscola, IL for a very long time and went to school in Chambana!
I am completely aware of the on-going demand of the Illini Shield gear. I wish that I had some inventory to show you that was exactly what you were looking for so I do apologize for any inconvenience as we only have the Illini gear provided to you in the previous e-mail. Believe me, I wish we had the Shiled gear available as well!
I've met with my team to see if there were any updates on upcoming Illini gear with the Shield present and there doesn't seem to be any word on whether or not we will. I've captured your feedback and provided it to my leadership team. We definitely want to reload the web-site with what people want most and can assure you that it's feedback that continues to influence our business decisions.
The best way to check out new releases and restocks is to visit Nike.com periodically. If there is anything I can do to further assist you or improve your experience, please let me know! I'm happy to help in any way I can.
Have a great Super Bowl Sunday!
Sincerely,
Micki

Nike isn't going to respond to emails. They will respond to sales figures. If fans buy more shield logo items, they will produce more different kinds of apparel with the shield logo. This is what I received:

The obvious inference to make would be that Illinois fans outside of this forum aren't that interested in shield logo products. There was probably an initial surge of shield sales, but interest (and sales) probably waned after that.I agree, but it's also curious that the amount of shield products on their website has dropped from the initial unveiling (This is the only product that has the shield featured prominently: http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/pd/d...nois-training-shirt/pid-1466455/pgid-10304955 ). It is difficult to find shield products on other websites as well, beyond a couple of t-shirts.
It would seem like Nike sold out of their initial wave of products and have since made no effort to replenish or embellish inventory.

Just curious, since I don't recall combing the Nike gear site much at unveiling, but did they ever have that much Shield gear for sale? Has anything changed or were there always slim pickings?
I haven't run into very much, just a couple of dri-fit shirts and a really ugly hat.
You would think that for all the time and effort Nike put into formulating a secondary logo (and the rebrand as a whole), they would make a greater push towards fan acceptance and adoption of the logo. I'm chalking it up to being their 35th most important collegiate client.
For comparison, check out recent rebrand Oregon State and their number of products versus ours on nike.com. We have 9 products on the website, OSU has 50.
I agree and continue to believe that they really hit the nail on the head with the shield. I wouldn't want it as our primary logo (like on TV broadcasts, helmets, etc.) but used as an accent it is wonderful.
Regarding nike's use of it, my guess is they wanted to see how it sold this fall before going all-in on it. The winter line of basketball merchandise would have been placed and designed sometime this summer so too soon for this fall sales input. My guess is that if we see more shield items it will be next fall or perhaps in the spring line which is due out this month I believe.
The Women's BB team should have their new uniforms for the next home game Thursday night, they've been delayed in arriving so we'll see.
