The New Illini Nike Uniforms and Rebrand

None of the uniforms are made yet. All we saw at the rebrand were samples. It could all be changed when we see it.

Lets hope they fix the striping inconsistencies if that's the case. Also, fix the baseball jerseys. They looked very awkward.

One of my friends took this picture of the volleyball court. This should give us a decent idea of what the SFC floor will look like. Sorry that the whole court isn't in the pic. He said there wasn't anything else to see.

think the word mark on the base lines look pretty good for not being a huge fan of the font. Also New Block I = :thumb:

The lighter wood looks really good in combo with the colors. Basketball court should look pretty good. Is the SFC already that same color of wood?

Thank goodness they took the Orange paint off the floor, now I hope they use a clear coat varnish. Assume they will. The last court was so old that it was almost a yellowish color along with the orange boarders gave an awful reflection of light and color onto the players. This should help. (photography wise)

The way I understood it was that the individual letters will be cut into the end zone turf and sewn in so replacing the whole end zone would not be required. The reason they painted the old logo in was so that they wouldn't have to change out the entire end zone. Who knows if they will actually stitch in the new word marks though. My guess is the 50 yard line doesn't change until we re-turf and the end zones get painted in. Which would be a bummer because I think the painted endzone letters look cheap.

Thinking about it some more, labor-wise it almost seems like it would be cheaper to replace the whole thing, turf cost included since they could manufacture it all into one piece and just replace a rectangle instead of cutting out each individual letter and sewing it back in.

Interesting that they went with the same, or at least very similar, staining for the state outline in relation to the rest of the floor as we saw at SFC. I thought it looked great in person but didn't show up AT ALL on TV. I hope the use a darker stain for the new court at the SFC just so you can see it when you're not there in person.

Would love an alternate floor with the Shield as the center Logo...not sure how feasible or practical that would be though.

An alternate floor, that's too ridiculous for someone not to try it. It's definitely feasible.

That would be very cool. Not sure how feasible it would be in terms of cost, but practically it shouldn't be a huge deal since they frequently have to disassemble and reassemble it anyway for other events. Even financially, maybe most of the court except a few of the pieces could be used by both.

I'd say I've been fairly credible thus far, but things could always change. I believe it's too late to order them now even if they did have the money.

Just asking. I'm not a jersey guy. I do know it's not too late though.

Generally (almost always but not 100% of the time) lead time is 9 months on uniforms or team apparel. Of course if a basketball team or something wants special uniforms it can be made in a matter of weeks if nike wants to. But this isn't a situation where Nike would really "want to" from a revenue generating standpoint.

Maybe, but don't you think that since it is part of the their rebrand that was just introduced that could weigh in a little more than it usually would? Just curious, but it seems like it may, especially if it leads to sales of more of the new gear to fans.

I am going to be royally pissed if we are forced to make do with nothing but orange and white for the first season after this whole giant hyped process. That would be total, utter incompetence on MT's part. That's the kind of stuff that defined his predecessor.

This sums up my feelings on this possible end result as well.

Only orange, indeed.

It's not really lost revenue because they could still sell blue jerseys to fans. Even if they didn't, how many people looking to buy a jersey would REFUSE to buy orange or white if blue wasn't available. Also, don't count this as incompetence from the staff or MT. If this wasn't accomplished it wasn't from a lack of trying. Also remember, there's other uniforms you all haven't seen yet ;)

If they are grey, then I will be really disappointed if we don't get blue.
