I hope we don't have a black uniform. That would not look good for the complaints about the Gray Ghosts I'm surprised people are open to black doesn't make sense

I got some of those blue and orange plastic stadium cups, did anyone else notice the "I" on the shield does not match the rebranded "I?"

The womens team will be breaking out some new uni's very soon as well.

Needs to be said again: Michigan avenue Nike store without a stitch of Illini gear. MT needs to get on this. All tOSU and Spartan gear.

Especially after yesterday's game. Nike hasn't put that gear for sale anywhere. I feel like they could've sold thousands of units of apparel based around the throwbacks we wore yesterday in the hours and days following the game. Just a mystery.

Difficult spot for the DIA. Yesterday's throwbacks would indeed be super popular, which I assume they knew, but they are obviously counter to the current branding initiative. Do they push a product that isn't consistent with the current brand or do they make the money grab?

The perfect answer is having a current team good enough to get folks excited about the current unis.

Why not sell both? It's not as if selling that stuff dilutes the current image and new brand? If anything it gets people more excited about the program as a whole.

I'd be fine with that. I don't know it dilutes the brand, but it would likely dilute the sales between different products.

But why the michigan avenue store has nothing makes no sense to me.

I've noticed this, it's completely ridiculous. We can't even be taken seriously in our own city

I went to the Nike Store on Michigan Avenue the weekend before the Illinois rebranding press conference they had there. None of the employees knew that there was a rebranding or even that they were hosting a press conference to announce it in a few days.

doesnt surprise me a bit -- youre lucky if you get a sales clerk that knows how to make change when the sale is 48.78 and you give them a $50.

alot of these sporting goods retail sales clerks today couldnt name 5 schools in the B1G.

But MT needs to get on this. This store needs to have a lot of our gear. It will sell. How many people buy all the Spartan stuff I saw in there? Or tOSU for that matter. I would understand ND gear selling in Chicago (although they're addidas), but I would think our gear would outsell MSU and tOSU gear in Chicago.

Don't ask me for a source, but I remember hearing once that our gear significantly outsells any other school's in Chicago, and in years like 2005 basketball or 2007 football, we dwarf other schools' sales.

I'm a creative director, and I have a friend who is a creative director at Nike so I can speak intelligently about this. I hate our uniforms. Hate the fonts, hate the color blocking, hate everything about them -- and the football stuff even more. I think Nike phoned in our rebranding. Very uninspired. I rib my friend they put interns on our program while the "name schools" get the real creative thinkers. Thank God he did not work on our stuff. He can't say outright he doesn't like it because he's Nike brainwashed, but I can tell he's disappointed as a creative person. The boxy stylized I mark looks like the front of a train and something out of the 90's and more for Purdue. I'd never wear it and cringe when I see it.
