Not sure Killeen could sound any more disinterested (in the AD search), other than the stirring ""interim" is only an adjective" pep talk given to Wilson.

Hoping that Ed McMillan, chairman of BOT, is representing University administration as the lead for the search. Out of all of the leaership at UI currently, he is best suited to lead and close the process.

I actually like the idea of going after a guy like lubin if we can't get George. The main job of the AD is to raise money and I like the idea of a good businessman who bleeds orange and blue trying to go after big time donors. I think Thomas turned people off in part because he was an outsider. We can't make that mistake again.

It's the Guenther approach to hiring coaches, simply do the opposite, it can't fail!

Thomas was an outsider with experience. So, let's hire an alum with no experience!

In that case, I guess I'll throw my name in the hat.

Based upon your criteria, I meet all qualifications. Plus I'll have the added benefit of incorporating into the job all of the great recommendations and input from each of you -- based upon my multiple visits to Illinois Loyalty each day.

BEWARE HOWEVER, I also admire Loren Tate, Dick Vitale, Bill Walton and Dan Dakich and would probably seek their counsel when times get tough.

If you through in Bruce Pearl I think we will hire you ;):D.

Rend your garments. Assume the position. We have entered #SHAKAWATCH

Illinois: Sources tell FootballScoop that Illinois is hoping to have an agreement in place with their new athletic director by early next week (at the latest). Sources tell us that people involved in the search continue to believe that Colorado AD Rick George is a strong candidate. Separately, sources in Colorado relay back that they would be highly surprised to see George leave, noting he “walks on water” at CU and has done an excellent job fundraising. Reading the tea leaves…sounds to FootballScoop like Rick George is about to get a raise from one of the two schools.

I always have fun seeing CU in reference to someplace out west. Everyone knows it stands for Champaign Urbana (CU).

I don't really think this is a leverage move necessarily for George, he will take it or he won't. I don't think he's going to make his alma mater get in a bidding war over an extended period of time.

Agreed. He's making $750,000 per year at Colorado under a contract that is only 2 years old. We I would think are offering more to pry him away from CU to CU. money will not be the issue for George.

The Colorado message board doesn't seem too confident that they're keeping him, for whatever it's worth.

If FootballScoop is accurate in any way, Illinois wouldn't be within a week of a hire unless it were a big move like Rick George. You don't need to move this quickly for Tommy Michaels.

I think you need to move quick regardless of the hire since the football coach needs to be hired so quickly.

True, but as we have heard too often, " this is Illinois."
