Does any of those 3 dc’s run a 3-4? Thought knowles ran a 4-2-5 or 3-3-5 and had no idea on walters or conklin. I know BB backed up his 3-4 talk by making a statement to a multiple d style but feel like he’s wanting a 3-4 scheme eventually, recruiting will dictate that going forward obviously.

Conklin has run multiple different styles.

No offense, but wholeheartedly disagree with this.

Part of my family went to USCar & they were constantly complaining about the stupidity the D showed.

Tell your family to watch some Illinois football during those same years than. They would really think our defense was pathetic!

The rails fell off the last year for Muschamp. That being said his defense more times than not kept them in games with a pathetic offense.

If I had to bet it'll be one of the two younger guys mentioned in the football scoop article.
Yeah. If you had to pick the one that didn’t fit in that group it’s knowles. The other 2 make more sense on their end.

Trust me, my mom and I were telling them to shut up lololololol

All I am saying is that South Carolina had some decent players during that time. If the best you can get to is 25th, there is a scheme problem there. UNC had an awful offensive line and South Carolina's defense blew it, BIG TIME.

So Muschamp....

Are you putting all of it on this one play or game vs UNC?

It was a scheme problem during those USC years, but an offensive scheme problem. If you have an offense that can't score, that usually means the defense will be on the field more during the game. Hint Hint....IL has also had this problem. Illinois is trying to finally be the bully and push people around instead of getting pushed over each week.

It probably didn't help that South Carolina threw 2 interceptions in the 4th quarter of that game....but hey that was on Muschamp also LOL

So you are saying we should have kept Lovie/Miles and just fired Rod? \s

This is about the UNC vs South Carolina comments.

If the offense and defense are both dysfunctional, why would I want to keep Lovie/Miles and Rod? If Lovie is a mastermind defensive coach, please look at the stats I put in prior posts. If you look at Bielema and what he is trying to build and did build at Wisconsin, it is about controlling the line. Past stats prove that they control the clock. That also means that the defense is more fresh and off the field more.

I know nothings official but there’s no point in discussing muschamp.

Good analysis - this is why I would be excited with Walters frankly - their defense got markedly better when he took over as DC each of the first two years and in 2019 they were one of the best defenses in the country, playing in the SEC no less. 2020 they were bad - but from what I've heard, injuries, COVID issues and injuries had them playing short handed the whole year. So, I'm willing to give him a pass on 2020

Given they had a new HC this year that Walters wasn't connected to and they had a terrible year on D, I view it as a window to get a talented young DC from the SEC - it's probably those factors on why he's even interviewing with us
Walters got lit up but was starting a backup QB as safety. I'm to understand they had some covid issues pop up that made fielding an entire defense challenging. I can relate.

I think we have a lot to be excited about. Not expecting miracles overnight but think we have a good foundation going for not just next year but more to come.

It will be nice when we don't have to rely on a bowl game win to have a winning record. Last regular season winning record was 2007.

Tie this info below in with random comments I have made and I see Bielema running his game plan perfectly so far

Wisconsin Avg Time of Possession per game

2006 3rd

2007 1st

2008 25th

2009 3rd

2010 6th

2011 16th

2012 24th

The Defense Avg Time of Possession per game is exactly the same ranking as offense except for 2011, which is 13th.

I am not putting this all on one game, I try to be objective in my critiques. As I have mentioned before, USCar was in my backyard growing up and I have kept tabs on them for most of my life, mostly so I could laugh at them. Laughing at UNC /USCar fans is like laughing at Michigan fanboys, everyone loves it.

While South Carolina had offensive problems, the defense never lived up to the recruiting rankings they had. If you have athletes and are getting repeatedly blown out by middle of the road SEC teams, that is 100% a scheme issue. Muschamp has not proven that he can take a defense WITH athletes and coach them up. Insisting on hiring him when he would not get that same personnel would be the definition of stupid.

Was not meaning to say you were insisting. That was intended for others who have been hyping both Muschamp/Robinson up.
