ALL ABOUT THAT!

My main concern with the Trinity kids is they are loaded this year and primed to compete at a very high level. Do they hold it against CP for leaving in their senior season or happy for him for the big promotion? I hope they are mature enough to be very happy for him...but we are talking about high school dudes
There's a very good chance Patterson doesn't work out the way we'd like it to. That's not a prediction. It's just an obvious observation. But the risk vs. reward works out pretty favorably for Illinois in its current situation. If it doesn't, oh no, Illinois might be bad at football. Never expected that.
I'm going to call this pretty much the best case scenario. I thought the radio silence, while annoying, certainly made this look like it was handled very professionally. I can't wait to find out how the DB's thing pans out. We've got a lot of challenges ahead of us this year but I have to say that things really seem to be falling into place. We just need one or two breaks here and there and we'll turn the corner. The big question now for me isn't IF we turn the corner, now it's WHEN. I would like when to be sooner.
Grats to our two new coaches! Welcome to Illinois! Now back to recruiting...

If it works, he can get you the kind of talent -- at least in the short term -- that can help you be competitive with other B10 programs again.
I feel like Rod Smith is going to be able to help make up for the learning curve Patterson is faced with, both in coaching and recruiting. Rod Smith has an opportunity to prove himself here. He's going to give it everything he has. I'm actually a little encouraged.

I have read the post three times now. Still trying to understand which part of it was crazy... [emoji848]Started drinking a little early did we?

Like the hire, not a huge splash but hopefully his connections to a possible grad transfer and his supposed "QB whisperer" status helps turn the offense around.
Insert large man joke here.
How about a gif instead?
Check Jeremy Werner's Twitter Timeline...early returns seem pretty positive!
Well, yeah, that's every hire. Ever.
When you're the worst Power 5 program this side of Kansas, though, you can be forgiven for being happy about some high hypothetical ceilings.
Right, hence the obvious statement. That folks don’t see that I’m happy with the hire is strange. Maybe “very good chance” is a little too strong. Point was, maybe he doesn’t work out, but if he does then it’s well worth the risk. It’s a great hire.
Can't even control your own narrative...

So far, so good. Will be interesting to see who the final hire is.
So, might the delay in hiring be related, in part, to giving Patterson some time to consider this big decision?
Easy for us to say he should have jumped on it when offered, but he has/had a good thing going at Trinity. Successful program, but more importantly having a positive influence on the lives of many young men, not only in football, but also in life. Not easy to leave at a moment's notice, even if college football coaching is your dream.
Maybe Lovie gave him some time, more so than usual, to think it over.
