Well, just got the word it's 95% Leipold. Disappointed because I truly thought Monken was the right man for the job. When you're struggling with in-state recruiting, it's good to go back to the roots and the Monken family is the absolute ILLINOIS roots of high school coaching. I expect an announcement Sunday afternoon.

Apparently Whitman didn't even give Monken serious consideration with apprehensiveness around the triple-option, but I think that's a bunch of malarkey. Good coaches adapt to their players. Leipold is a winner, but can he recruit as a 56-year-old with no Power 5 experience? I have my doubts.

Anyways, like I said, Leipold is uniformly the coach and barring some last minute change of direction to Bret B. or the Wake Forest Coach, he will be announced on Sunday afternoon.
Chicago kid, you aren't ThaKid are you? I hope you are right. I would be relieved. But, I have no idea if you know anything.

I think Josh would be taking a very big risk hiring Leipold. Some big winners on a lower level can duplicate things at a power 5 level but MOST do not. Josh cannot afford a second failure here or it’s his job. The safe bet is BB who will without a doubt develop a winning program. If 7-8 wins a year gets monotonous you can make a change down the road. If Leipold is yet another guy who fails in the big time lights you’re starting from scratch again 5 years from now.
Guided by the Lovie hire I would be surprised if Josh takes a chance on Leipold translating to power 5.
As to Monken there’s a reason no one has run a triple option in the Big Ten in decades. We’re not going to do it and succeed.

Locking a literal kid with a concussion up inside of a dark closet should have had him banned from coaching for life. The fact that you're trying to pass that off as "some warts" is everything that is wrong with modern day college athletics.
Wasn’t the kid in the closet thing made up by Craig James kid (or was that fake news?).

Does liepold call the offense? Now I’m legit worried he’d be coming without his oc. That’s a classic lower level move. Promoting the main assistant of the coach that got hired away.

He’s gonna keep pushing fickell til he changes his number. At least that’s my hope. Anyone know if he’s tried to talk to Gus or the sunbelt guys? If he’s interviewing a sitting ACC coach, I’d hope he wouldn’t write off someone like Napier.

I believe JW still has a trick up his sleeve regarding an OC. He will have a lot of cash to throw at someone and I suspect it will be a big-time P5 guy. LL is going to need help getting through the 4 star doors.
