From what I understood, LL’s appeal was his culture of great X’s and O’s, player development, fundamentals and execution. None of which could be found outside the first quarter. Echoing those earlier...looked like Illini football to me!

I may be grasping at straws to try to maintain the argument that Leipold could be our Matt Campbell, but here goes.

In Campbell's last year at Toledo (2015), he lost to a 5-loss Western Michigan team in the MAC title game. The Broncos had Fleck but they weren't exactly a consistent team either that season, having lost the previous two games. Don't judge a guy's quality by one game.

I’m sure Leipold is a fine coach and he’d possibly workout well here. But there is no way you can fire up a fan base by introducing a 56 year old Mac coach who just got busted by the only decent team they played all year

Yes, you're grasping. But nice research!

Bottom-line, this is just such a crapshoot.

“Hi Josh? It’s Lance. I’m not seeing anything in my inbox. Thought you said you’d send over that contract as soon as the game ended. I keep refreshing but nothing. Do you have my correct email address? Please call me back as soon as you get this. Excited to talk to you again!”

This thread reminds me of a game thread for our basketball team. Where you get comments like Ayo is overrated. Kofi is a disappointment. Underwood is in way over his head. Then the next game the same people are saying we’re going to the final 4. I’m glad JW isn’t going to make a decision on one game. Whoever he picks will have my full support.

It’s uncanny how this Friday night has felt like the entire multi-year Lance Leipold era we might be entering condensed down to five or six hours. After watching that game I’m totally ready for the post-Leipold coach search thread.
The possibility of this post’s accuracy made me wince

Did... did you think I was being serious?
Not about McVay, of course not. I was more talking about Victory Illinois on twitter sucking people in with flightaware screen shots. One thing is for sure, flightaware will give you no insight into the coaching search. People before your post we’re speculating about who, legitimately, from LA could be a candidate. I was saying that is a waste of effort.
