I'll use the resurgence of this thread to repost my jersey concept from before the rebrand. As others have mentioned, having "Fighting Illini" on the front of our jerseys should be the tradition we build on.

Man...These are gooooood. More of these please.

White. Blue. Silver. Black. All the colors. More.

Edit: Whats the verbiage on the back collar?

No shield. Worst idea ever. Worse than any script. Worse than any other graphic. Nike just had to do something with the school's money.

Could we put the out line of our state on our shorts? Similar to the one on helmets?

I think there are size and symmetry restrictions for uniforms. There might not be enough space to make it look good, and then also do it on the other side of the shorts.

Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

Love the shield, most of the athletes love the shield. Tennis by far uses it the most on their shirts and hats. Remember early on when Thomas refereed to it as a "badge", LOL. Anyway the Shield sells a lot of merchandise, it's nice to have an option along with "I".

Looks like there are some people to add to the enemies list.

The shield is horrible. My 6 yr old could of come up with that. Garbage

Pretty advanced, then, since my 3-year-old - as well as any other human who knows the Latin alphabet - can and has created our other "logo"

Haha. That did make me lol. Our block I is the best we have without the chief. I wish i had a better solution but without cheif it is relaity. i would rather just have the I and not have the generic looking shield as option. Once again, my oponion

I guess my question is, how is the shield generic? No other school has anything similar to :shield:. I love my school, but the :illinois: couldn't be more generic.

+1. The shield is pretty unique IMO. Give it a few years and college bball fans around the country will begin to associate it with Illinois.

Illinois basketball has never had truly great uniforms, there, I said it.

And honestly, everything between the Flyin' Illini and the 01-05 era ones were absolutely heinous.

Looks like "Our State. Our Team."

Yep. You're right.

I know it's a trendy thing that will probably die soon, but how about "#WeWillWin" on the unis?

When it does die out, they can redesign again. Capitalize on it now.

Letters have been used as varsity logos since the 1860s. It's not generic. It's tradition. For as much as we love to talk about our tradition around here, I find it ironic that we would want to abandon our most traditional logo because we're afraid we can't distinguish ourselves from the Iowas and Idahos of the world. You must have been pleased with the Assembly Hall rename as well since that too is a generic name.

IRT the notion that a new logo/shield would increase the value of the brand-that's not necessarily true. If a logo had that much impact on the marketplace, graphic designers would be the highest paid employees at every company in the world. Logos can help multiply the value of a brand if the brand's products are perceived as being valuable.

Nike has the most recognizable logo in the world, but people didn't begin buying Nike's because they liked the logo. They began buying Nike's because Nike introduced an athletic shoe made of soft leather that provided more support. They then capitalized on the perceived value of their product with brilliant marketing, using the logo because the logo then stood for something.

Agreed. As someone that didn't grow up in Illinois, and thus has zero nostalgia for the uniforms before I got on campus, I can say I've always been shocked by how many of our past uniforms are just brutal.

I spent several years in the Indianapolis area growing up, and the only positive thing that my Hoosier friends would give me about my Illini, is that they liked our midnight blue jerseys with the black trim. I know many people disagree, but these were some of my favorite jerseys. Especially because to me, they reflected the hard nosed brand of basketball we played at the time.

Interesting. I've always thought when we've had black or gray on our base navy jerseys it's looked off. I'll admit, though, I'm a stickler for uniforms only featuring our primary colors.

The exception being when gray/silver is the base for the uniform. I think our silver uniform is by far the most successful of our current crop (not including the throwback, which I love).
