so it seems like we can all agree that the big "rebrand" a couple of years back was pretty much a bust?
For basketball anyway. The "throwbacks" are awesome and should be our every game unis. The alt. greys are cool too. Would be better if they said Fighting Illini as well. They could be our rare occasion alt.

It's amazing how peoples' opinions can differ. I can't hardly watch a game with my wife if we are wearing the alt greys because she just complains about them the whole time.

The north Carolina one would be similar to us just having the block I. Which would also probably look cool. We have plenty of different options that could all look fantastic. The trick is keeping them relevant as styles change.

Put me in the hate column for the greys. I cannot stand them. Not to mention, to me it looks like we're ripping off Ohio St.
I'm with you. Not our color scheme, so I don't see the point. I guess the younger generation loves them, overall, but me? :tsk:
I agree. I dont like the grey uni's for football or b-ball.
I know the university invested a bunch of $ for the re-branding a few years back, but I am already looking forward to the next phase of different looking uniforms for both sports. The current ones don't look good and I will always associate them with some horribly non-competitive football and b-ball seasons.
Anytime we can get close to the flying illini retro b-ball uni's, I'm all in!

I always thought the gray uniforms were not the best because the orange lettering was hard to see. It kinda reminded me when I was broadcasting high school football years ago when Cumberland had one of the worst uniforms I ever saw. It was literally blue on blue, and in nighttime...very hard to see.

I like the people who say "New era, time for a new look" and "let's get as close to the throwbacks as possible" in the same sentence.
I love the flyin illini uniforms as much as anybody, but they should really only be worn once a year. Any more and it loses some of it's luster.

I think using it as the default home jersey's would be pretty cool. Wear orange at home two or three times and the flyin illini ones the rest.

When I say "new look," I mean "not like what we've had during the Groce era." We need to make a break from that. That does not mean that the 2017/18 uniform can't be inspired by earlier designs. But whatever, dump the zigzag.
