I would like to see a black jersey with white lettering, nothing crazy but I think it would be cool.
I think it's a cool new idea for an alternative they wear once a year. But it won't happen. I would have said the grey jerseys would never happen either though...so you know what my opinion is worth.

I also like the concept of multiple alternates though. Most people on here seem to want home whites, orange for road and home alternates, and blue on occasion. Little or no deviation.

I enjoy variety.

I think we should wear orange as often as possible both home and road.

It's almost as if we got gun-shy after the legendary red-on-orange debacle against Wisconsin back when those CBS broadcasts were weirdly washed out even in HD.

I am not a fan of black jerseys, especially for schools that don't generally use black.

I would rather have an all white one with gray or orange outlines and accents similar to the Miami Heat all white ones.

Yes I agree we need to wear orange all the time, preferably as a main element but at a minimum as an accent color (even on the Gray Ghost unis).:illinois:

Meh. orange was great during our 04-05 run but it sort of took hold and we’ve run it through a big pile of mud in the dozen mediocre years since. I’m ready to move on and mix it up with blue and white as primary colors, which are also nice and don’t so much feel like we’re still chasing 04/05. Love orange as secondary color and good with orange as primary for occasional games, just don’t want it all the time.

Also part of what was great about orange is that it was a special, very distinctive alternate - with blue and white as our main away and home. Once you wear it all the time, it loses its cool.

On a side note- some of the NBA’s Nike City jerseys this year were sweet. I’d love to do an alternate perhaps in orange that had a special UI / Champaign theme. Obviously chief is out of bounds so would have to be something else. I’m sure someone could come with something cool. Maybe Land of Lincoln or something

I am not, for as long as the national trend is fans and student sections wearing the most garish school color available while the team itself never wears that color. That's so lame, and I always considered us an exception to it.

If orange becomes no longer the universal fan uniform, then I'd be fine with it.

Agree. We're the only school in the Big Ten with orange as one of our primary colors. We should use it as our calling card, not shy away from it.

Serious question- why does it take us a year or more to update or introduce new jersey designs, meanwhile teams like VA Tech, TCU, Baylor, Minnesota, Indiana, WVU... (I could go on and on) are able to get multiple new variations and designs every season???

Is that true?

The trend with Nike's uniforms seems to be going minimalist -

The players are rolling up the shorts - less baggy and tighter fits. I would imagine that when we move forward, it will be along these lines. Tighter fits, shorter shorts, basic colors, less stylized.

I am good with that as long as we get something that has some Illinois uniqueness (i.e., :Fighting Illini", shield). I would hate to just get the hand me down stylings of the current Nike Elite programs.

I do like black jerseys, but since navy is a main color for us, black doesn’t work.
