Just got this email today (why they send it to an existing season ticket holder is a mystery). Not sure how I should feel after spending $500 per ticket for top half of 200 section seats?

This had been mentioned in the attendance thread, the difference is you don't have an assigned location, you're going to get whatever seat is available 48 hours before game time. That might appeal to some people, others might rather know which seat they have for each game.

Stupid question time. Do season ticket holders have any priority when purchasing tickets for the Big Ten Tournament?

Good question--if so, that $125 season ticket package would be a good hedge for BTT tix.

And that is why I ask. My house is three subway stops from the tourney site this year and I very much plan to attend! Unfortunately, I know nothing about how the ticket buying game is played.

I am a season ticket holder. I got started buying tickets the first year they offered the "banner level" package, which was $200 a seat for the last two rows of the stadium. Once I had bought that package, I had the option to buy, Braggin Rights, Winter Break, Holiday Tournament, and BTT tickets in advance of the public. I would assume it would be the same for the mobile season tickets, but I wouldn't hesitate to call the ticket office and ask. Also, as someone who has been to the BTT the last two years, I can tell you that you will have no problem getting tickets if you wait until they are released to the public. The crowds have been less than impressive for Illini games in both Chicago and Indy.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like I can get a seat in the Illini block with or without a season ticket. It looks like many tickets have already been sold, however, as there seems to be a resale market with some impossibly high prices. I did not realize sales had already begun. My bad.

They've been doing this kind of thing at football games for a while. I keep thinking that someday, getting full-price season tickets will be worth it again, but until then, I feel like kind of a chump for paying that almost-$500-a-seat for season tickets, when they roll out all kinds of deals a month or two later anyways. :noidea: I guess the parking pass comes with regular tickets, which is nice, but $375 for that and not really much of any other benefit?

I'm certainly not plunking down whatever ridiculous amount they want for the UC game, when it'll be on StubHub or something like that for much cheaper.

Anyone have any any idea if you can buy 2 and they would keep them together wherever they have 2 together?

Just looked and it says yes. That's a pleasant surprise.

Ha this is me as well.

In the end, I don't mind when they put together good packages like this. I'd rather be apart of a full house even if I'm one of the few chumps paying full boat for my ticket.

I'd rather see a full house, too, but it still sucks to pay the full price and and then have the seats around me filled in by the $125-a-season instant tickets.

Hopefully we actually become good again someday and we don't have to resort to gimmickry to fill seats - y'know, like we used to do.

I've has the same experience around here with NCAA games & ACC tournament. Since they are sold in packs the first few rounds during the workday they are giving away good seats. Evening games are better, but even early rounds you can get tickets. I lucked into some free & bad tickets for Carolina-Duke ACC championship one year & they are like gold around here. So i suspect you run the same risk when you get to the weekend games of the B1G as well.

With HB2 that won't be an issue this year.

Braggin Rights Seating Section Assignments

Hello,

I am looking to take my Father to the Braggin Rights game..The last time I went in 2006, the arena was divided in half for each fan base. I want to ensure we end up in the Illini section. Does anyone know how the sections are currently being divided? Thanks for your help. Really do not want to end up alone in an entire section of Miznoz fans.

Since we are one month from the first exhibition game I would think season tickets should be in the mail soon. Has anyone heard anything on when they might ship?

I am a regular season ticket holder but I have no problem with Illini fans paying discounted pricing. What ever works to get Illini fans butts in the seats. I drive 2 hours one way and I am sure not rich by any means but the love for Illini basketball is worth it.
