Is it unusual for this all to be happening at this point? I would think guys would want to transfer before the semester in order to play spring ball at their new schools.

Good thing we couldn't let the interim AD that has made several hires execute a coaching search and actually perform the job of AD.

My only hope for the defense is the new 4-3 scheme (hopefully attacking the LOS) covers up some of the attrition we are witnessing. Thanks Cubes, you can't leave soon enough!

From Steve (formerly w/ Robert at Illiniboard):

"The program will regret this; this time I mean it. The football team is being exploited as a jobs program for the well placed at its moment of greatest vulnerability. This is a breach of fiduciary duty. If Illinois were a corporation, the shareholders would revolt, sell their stock, seek an activist to launch a hostile takeover."

Hard to remember a worse time in Illinois Athletics. Neal transfer yet another symptom of a disastrous disease.

In my head, this justifies my "irrational" hatred and disdain every time I see Bill Cubit's face as the head of the Illini program.

I don't fault him for his position or any of the actions that come from it. I fault the administration, but since he's the figure head he gets the hate.

I really disliked his smugness on not talking about "negativity" during all of his press conferences. It's just such a cop out to not be accountable for anything.

Don't worry guys, we can stem the tied of all the transfers w/ the GLUT of recruits that were just waiting for him to be given the full time position....

I am thinking the new scheme plus banks leaving was it for TJ. Just a gut feeling

Also the whole part of our players getting the message they have a "not ideal" coach leading them by our own administration.

If I were a player I'd be saying to hell with this place too. Beat up my body for a bunch of nepotism pushing lightweights who can't further anyone's career? No thanks. This is entirely, 100%, self-induced by the friggin' geniuses on the BOT and administration down in ECI. Losers. Every last one of them.

How is what is happening right now compare to what you all thought would happen as far as transfers, decommits, so on so forth? Is it better than thought, worse than thought or about on par?

Just about what I expected when they kept Cubit as an interim coach. Why would anyone want to play for Illinois under these circumstances? I remember one poster here insisting it wouldn't matter, players don't care about the contract length. :hand:
