Malik Zaire will indeed transfer out of Notre Dame. His list of suitors will be very long.

What are the odds of landing Zaire QB transfer from Notre Dame, eligible next season?

We have a decent O-Line, if Dudek returns, he and Turner are good WRs. Good OC, Good Head Coach. TEs and RBs are decent. A good QB might like his chances of starting next season and leading us to a bowl game.

He's looking at Pitt, Wisconsin, Florida and Michigan St.

This is the Illinois starting quarterback for the 2017 season.

If winning is the most important thing, he will have better suitors.

What we can offer is a stone-cold guaranteed starting spot next year in an offense that highlights his strengths. Sometimes that matters more than you'd think, we'll see.

Obviously our job would be among the most stone cold locks for a starting job in the country. But we're also talking about a potential top 10 QB in the country. It's going to be his job pretty much anywhere that has someone graduating. Lindys ranked him #7 coming into the season and he was at least good enough to push the 2017 NFL Drafts QB1 or QB2 into a battle that extended into the season.

Long story short, we can definitely sell playing team, but a lot of other teams will be able to do the same just because he is that good.

I don't know if it will be him, but I highly doubt our next QB is currently on the roster. I'm thinking Bolin from Louisville.

What happened to the guy from MSU that visited a couple times this fall? Did he land anywhere?

Man, Zaire is transferring a season too early. We've got one more mediocre season of 4-5 wins next year then I don't think we see less than 7 W after that during the Lovie era-- however long that may be. With Lovies already strong recruiting ties he's developed and the trajectory the recruiting trail is trending, I firmly believe we will be a top-25 team in 2018 with a +average QB. Have heard things to back this up as well. Way brighter than on the basketball side of things, even though we've pulled a couple big fish over there the last few years.

Another possibility is Auburn quarterback John Franklin III, who said yesterday he would look to be a graduate transfer. Was a HS sprinter who rushed for over 400 yards and threw for around 150 primarily as Auburn's backup. Coach McGee almost certainly recruited him while coaching at Arkansas or UAB.

John Franklin III is actually the player to be named from last seasons trade of TJ Neal for Gimel President. :thumb::shield:

Also the star of his own Netflix series.

Man I'd be so hyped if we landed him. He's an athlete if I've ever seen one.

While on the topic of former Florida State Qbs that left and went to last chance U in Mississippi, what's happening with De'Andre Johnson?

John Franklin III is going to have a hard time getting admitted into graduate program at U of I. He has a transcript that includes classes from three different schools including one year at JUCO. I'm not sure Illinois will be an option but it's a possibility I guess.

Malik Zaire is definitely my first choice, McGee and Lovie should go on a full court press for him.

There hasn't been a peep. About any school. Which is kinda weird. Especially since we're literally going to be watching a documentary about what's going on in his life soon enough.

QB Alin Edouard is currently at Independence CC in Kansas. Former Syracuse signee has already been offered by the Illini (from Dade County originally). I don't really see Lovie being someone willing to take a risk on a questionable character guy such as De'Andre Johnson. Edouard probably was recruited by McGee out of high school and most likely has his class work in order.
