I wonder how many more TSJ threads we’ll have before he returns. O/U 3.5?

Steve Harvey Wow GIF by NBC

Considering this is already the fourth thread since Sunday (along with 2-3 games due to be played before the first court date), the over you set hits 99.99% of the time.

The number of threads will likely easily reach the double digits.

Last night towards the end of the game I thought it was interesting how the announcers talked about the suspension

He basically said TSJ was involved in an incident and we don’t know how long the suspension will be or when he will be back

The way I heard it it sounded like he thought TSJ could be back this season. It is one thing to read it here but if the media talks about it there might be actual movement. He could have easily have said he is charged with rape and is suspended indefinitely. Just the way he picked his wording was interesting. I might be reading into things too much

Illinois has historically been more conservative in these decisions compared to other schools. One of the bigger obstacles to letting TSJ play in this situation is the charge itself. A felony rape charge is perceived differently than a civil case. Hopefully we hear something soon after last nights loss would love some optimistic news.

They also never mentioned why he was suspended which I thought was deliberate to not put more negative public opinion on him.

I picked up on that as well. I took it as maybe they might be privy to some of the inner facts and did not want to further denigrate TSJ's name because they're of the belief that things won't stick.

You’re reading into it. It’s an indefinite suspension, literally the definition of that is we don’t know for how long it’ll be

I think it likely was more than that. It stands to reason that the analysts were prepped ahead of time of what to say and not say about the TSJ situation. Generally, in these type of situations, there is talk nonstop about the charge or allegation and the player costing his teammates. In this case saying merely that TSJ was suspended appears out of the ordinary to me, and I would not be surprised if the commentators were told to let this case be by the network, or that the commentators themselves have doubts on the veracity of the charge.

it probably means nothing. I will be interested to see how they phrase things in the MSU game

For length of suspension do they say when or do they say if he returns

For the reason do they say incident or do they say rape

If our insiders are correct he will return late January/early February the public opinion of this case needs to be shifted

Anyone have a read on what’s going on? I felt like last week it was sure that he’d be out the entire season. Now it’s hard to tell. Too many rumors. Too many whispers

I would assume the media does not want to speculate anything about the case and will avoid getting into any specifics until it’s resolved publicly.

Listening to the Inside Illinois podcast from last night they seem to acknowledge the possibility TJ come back this season in a way I don’t think they were before. But again this could be the result of the giant echo chamber that is the Internet. Can never be sure who’s just repeating something they heard from someone else online.
