Thanks for the info! Fingers crossed the DA comes to her senses sooner than later. So curious about the behind the scenes negotiations. But all that matters is TSJ comes back.
All that matters is justice is served. Again if TJ raped someone he should be held accountable if what we’re all believing is true and he’s a victim of an overzealous DA he should be cleared of wrongdoing and allowed to play and get his life back on track. I stand behind Terrence until it’s proven he is guilty of something!

The longer this drags out the less hope I have he’ll play this season…
The news broke literally a week ago. He's charged with a major crime, and while it seems to be a popular opinion that he didn't do it, that doesn't change the fact that it's been a week since he turned himself in for it. The idea that something like this clears up in a week is just silly.

Does anyone know if the accusers statement has been released yet? That's what boggles my mind. I would have thought that would have been released with the foia. That will give a lot of information and do a lot to clear things up. I don't see much of reason to not release it.
I asked Jordan Clark, who is a trial clerk working for Douglas County Circuit Court, about this topic on Wednesday, 1/3/2024. Even though he communicated with me previously, he had no comment, so far, on this topic of whether the probable cause affidavit has been released. This might mean that the court has been instructed not to comment on why this choice was made. I also asked why the information being release is limited in this way. So, Jordan Clerk seemingly had no explanation for that. It seems that this would be up to a judge in this case, not the clerk though, so Jordan Clark may have just been following the judge's decision on this matter.

The person obviously deleted his tweet on his own. Twitter doesn't care about or censor nonsense like #freeTSJ. If it's any kind of censoring, it's self-censoring.
I guess I meant people would not have felt the need to SELF censor about assuming he’s guilty with no proof besides the charge.

Source? Reading the nasty Neanderthal comments on social media from people who assume he’s guilty.

From a native Kansan…..

There are definitely some laws that create opportunities for wrongful prosecution. You would think in Kansas they would be particularly cautious right now because they just busted the Osage County prosecutor for overcharging cases and there’s a bunch of convictions waiting to get overturned. That’s just 1 county away to the southwest from Douglas.

What makes you think she would act differently than she has in the past?

It seems without that occurring, Shannon won’t play competitive bball again for quite some time
This is where I’m at too…I just don’t see any incentive for the DA to budge. If she pleads it down to simple battery or something else that would allow TJ to return, she gets a lot of bad PR for clearly overcharging a high profile case. If she loses at trial, she’s in the same boat. From her standpoint, might as well take the chance and who knows, maybe get a conviction, and if not can spin it as we still felt good about our case, don’t agree with the jury but will respect the process, etc.

I just don’t think it’s likely the DA will do such a drastic about face. But who knows.

I think I know what you mean, but TJ coming back to play at Illinois is far less important than him being cleared, as to not ruin the rest of his life! That said, I really hope he is cleared ASAP so he can return and play for us again this year. The sooner the better, but I would rather it take longer and clear him than for him to accept a plea and have this follow him the rest of his life.

Edit:
As I still don't have a clear understanding of exactly what happened (ie what he said vs. what she said, etc.), if pleading to a much more minor infraction in lieu of what was charged gets this behind him so he can move on, I am not advocating that he should be intransigent. I am sure his attorneys have this well under control and are acting in his best interests.

Because public attention and pressure surrounding this case may be the final straw to break through the apparent misconduct surrounding the office. There are numerous examples of people in powerful positions digging in their heels until the evidence is overwhelming to the point that they can no longer hang on. Not saying that is what is happening in this case because I have no information other than what has been shared here. But, to simply give up any hope of breaking through an apparent pattern of overzealous prosecution does not sound like the path being followed in TSJ's case. Hopefully there is some good news from the hearing on the 18th, if not sooner. Certainly plenty of smoke surrounding him possibly coming back.

There was a reference in an earlier post on opportunities on wrongful conviction but what you are talking about is the criminal side. You get the conviction overturned. There is a compensation mechanism for wrongful incarceration but the amounts are typically low. This is first hand knowledge but no names. There is an individual who was convicted of murder. Convicted and the State asked for the death penalty. He allegedly confessed and when I heard that I said to myself. Right to say I was skeptical was an understatement. Turns out the confession was beat out of him. He was visibly injured and spitting blood. He was a victim of a well known and later convicted police torture squad. The other evidence. Well an occurrence witness later recanted and turned out the physical layout was such it was impossible for the witness to have seen what was testified to. The other witness recanted and said he lied because he was pissed at the defendant because he started dating his girlfriend. The physical evidence you say? This particular big city had a professional arson investigation unit. Instead they sent out a newbie on a training exercise. His conclusions were later shown to be scientifically flawed and that is being charitable. So after 25 years of room and board at the Stateville Hilton the state paid him a little over 200k for his wrongful conviction. His federal case. 9.3 million. The DA is not the absolute power. Douglas County has at least 9.3 million reasons for her to change mind.

Yeah definitely. I got excited and thinking ahead of myself. Of course doing what’s best for him is most important.
