I'm guessing the Central District of Illinois Federal Court in Springfield, IL?
Yes, she sits in Springfield. I don't know if they travel to Springfield or she travels to Urbana for a case removed from the Champaign County Circuit Court on a federal question.

Do people think Illinois was just gonna lay down and say “you know what you’re right, our policy is stupid!” They had to defend it, TSJ lawyers knew this, and i doubt them moving it to federal court surprised them either. Did the NCAA lay down when a TRO was filed against them for the two time transfer rules? I have no idea why people’s confidence has changed just because UIUC is defending its own policy.
Obviously not. Just the current stage of the process has me feeling frustrated again. The optics of TSJ filing restraining order against his own university and his lawyers saying “could be tomorrow, could be the end of the month” (before the Friday hearing date was set) have me feeling like we are going to continue to receive nut punches. As if this hasn’t been awful enough already

His attorneys are not arguing that the university was not "smart enough" to keep him on campus and letting him go to Lawrence, they instead are planting the seeds to argue that TSJ is actually an "employee" of the University because the University (through the grad assistant) drove him and Harmon to the game, and "controlled" his actions while there by requiring the grad assistant to check in with coaching staff, etc.

By arguing that he was an "employee" of the University, it bolsters the notion that he should be afforded more protection than if he was just a student athlete governed by the University policies and bylaws. It is a strategic move that to assist their argument that Title 9 was violated and that the DIA hearing violated his due process by not allowing him to appear at the hearing or to testify on his behalf.
In reading or skimming most of the complaint, the Hobson tie in is not to establish TSJ was an employee. The Hobson tie in is to establish this trip was part of the school's activities or program bexauae it maintained control or oversight over their activities which seems to be a pretty big stretch. Whitman emphasized at various points TSJ was not there as part of official team activities. I think if they cant make that tie in, the Title IX due process cpunt goes out the window. I was not really persuaded by the legal grounds in the complaint but I'm assuming the motion was much more grounded legally speaking. I think one good thing as has been said is that we now know what exactly we are talking about. Only a week or so ago I was thinking worse scenarios involving TSJ and the incident. Think the filing will at least help in the court of public opinion if nothing else.

You're not going to be able to top this: In Austin, Texas, (where I lived for 6 years) there is a noted urologist named Richard "Dick" Chopp who, according to his LinkedIn profile, "is well known in the Austin community for performing Vasectomies." Look it up.
I can believe it since he was the one that fixed me!!!! 🤣

Only on Loyalty would we have an actual, honest-to-goodness news day — after 100-odd pages of pure speculation for days on end — and then have half the ensuing posts be about weird doctor names and hotel credentials.

Never change, Loyalty. Never change.

I am a licensed ship's captain, and as such I AM the law on board a ship outside US territorial waters. Nonetheless, I defer to just about everybody else here on this whole mess.
That's at least some good news. If all else fails, I guess we only have to file an injunction against the DA under the grounds that Lawrence, KS is international waters, which you had jurisdiction over during the time of the alleged incident, and thereby TSJ was inappropriately charged as the DA had no authority to do so. They'll never see it coming.

I think a lot of us are dealing with this crazy situation however we can, haha.

Regarding Hobson’s statement about the 4:30 return to Champaign. It’s unclear whether this is leaving Lawrence at 4:30 or arriving at 4:30. When was the ICON event mentioned? If it was at say 8AM, then it means they arrived back at 4:30. If it was at noon, who knows?
