Along the sidebar discussion of lawyerin' shows, if anyone hasn't seen this one, it's pretty funny (The Grinder):

Again, my statement was not in reference to the TSJ situation. I still don't know why people are upset at a suggestion that people should better educate themselves.
1. Telling anyone he should “better educate” himself comes across as smug, so don’t be surprised if people don’t like your phrasing.

2. It’s your tunnel-vision-like focus on it that could be off-putting, not WHAT you said. It gives the impression that all of these posters can’t acknowledge that victims can respond in a variety of ways and still come to the opinion that this woman isn’t a “victim” at all.

Could easily turn the tables and say that you need to better educate yourself in terms of false allegations, burden of proof being on the accuser and innocent until proven guilty. People don't like being lectured.

Furthermore taking sexual assualt seriously and supporting TSJ with what has been released is NOT mutaully exclusive. You're trying to "white knight" anyone who is finding this ordeal as nebulous.

Why anyone is making such declarative statements about who is telling the truth is a bit absurd. If there is video evidence that is clear that these two never interacted, do you think we are still here right now. There are probably only two people who really know what happened that day. That is what makes these cases so difficult. More often than not these allegations don’t just come out of nowhere. A high profile athlete certainly can be a target, but they can also do stupid things.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I believe the only evidence we have right now is what Shannon's legal team has given us. The DA could have other evidence that we haven't seen and that perhaps has not yet been turned over or Shannon has but hasn't released. So we don't have enough to determine that the case is total BS. Mostly BS, of course.

Buried deep in the TSJ TRO was this:

“Although TJ believes that he might have one year of NCAA eligibility remaining, he intended to enter the NBA draft this June as he was projected to be an NBA lottery pick, and he was intending to get his Sociology degree from Illinois this May. (Complaint, 1 53.)“

This is the first I’ve heard anywhere that TSJ could have another year of eligibility.

Also people who are not experts in a field shouldn’t just have their opinions thrown out categorically! Lol. I work in financial and valuation consulting for health systems … if the topic turned to the financials of our healthcare system, I wouldn’t expect myself to be the only person able to offer an opinion! Surely you all have formed opinions on the economy or a number of political issues and you don’t just recant them as soon as one “expert” disagrees. :ROFLMAO:

Man... I knew I should have waited to post my 3000 word essay, hahaha.
It was excellent, and people should see it.

1) I stand by that there are plenty of comments that indicate people should to better educate themselves. If you think that is smug to say, then I can't change that.

2) That is not at all what I meant. I have clearly stated that my statement was not in reference to the TSJ situation multiple times. My apologies to anyone who thought otherwise.

idk how he'd have another year. there's no way the NCAA would grant a redshirt on this season right?

I wonder why we only got an excerpt of Shannon's side, but the full 4 pages from the complainant.

1. And I think many people would stand by your comments being condescending and smug. (And likely ignorant of people's knowledge relative to your own.)

2. Then perhaps you should have not posted your (totally unrelated) statement in a thread entitled "TSJ Thread"??

If you are triggered by me saying that people should better educate themselves about the different ways that sexual assault victims respond in different situations, and just because they didn't respond the way you think they should doesn't mean an assault didn't take place, then you are part of the problem.

And if me saying that upsets you, I really don't care.

I also want to point out that my original post was not making a statement as to what I think happened with TSJ. I hope that an assault didn't occur. But I don't know. None of us do. However, my post was making a general statement about how people respond to sexual assault (and sexual assault accusations).
I think we all understand this and have questions as to why we can't see the accusers statements. That would show us quite a bit. These are the hardest cases to prove and he didn't take her home and we don't know if she was blacked out. If video evidence was overwhelming. We would have seen an arrest and charges sooner.

So is TSJ saying he did or did not have an interaction with this woman? Seems like a simple answer to that would go a long way. Maybe I missed it...
