1. Telling anyone he should “better educate” himself comes across as smug, so don’t be surprised if people don’t like your phrasing.Again, my statement was not in reference to the TSJ situation. I still don't know why people are upset at a suggestion that people should better educate themselves.
Could easily turn the tables and say that you need to better educate yourself in terms of false allegations, burden of proof being on the accuser and innocent until proven guilty. People don't like being lectured.Again, my statement was not in reference to the TSJ situation. I still don't know why people are upset at a suggestion that people should better educate themselves.
And 239 as wellMeTV Channel (Channel 77 DirecTV)
Still on..........and I still watch Perry Mason.
I am not a lawyer but I play one on TVEveryone now needs to start every post by informing us whether or not they are a lawyer.
@aaeismacgychel, Thank you for your thoughtful level-headed analysis. Here is a screenshot of your well-written “essay” post for others who haven't read the latest closed TSJ thread.Man... I knew I should have waited to post my 3000 word essay, hahaha.
IANAL is our preferred acronym around here.Everyone now needs to start every post by informing us whether or not they are a lawyer.
Along the sidebar discussion of lawyerin' shows, if anyone hasn't seen this one, it's pretty funny (The Grinder):

It was excellent, and people should see it.Man... I knew I should have waited to post my 3000 word essay, hahaha.
1) I stand by that there are plenty of comments that indicate people should to better educate themselves. If you think that is smug to say, then I can't change that.1. Telling anyone he should “better educate” himself comes across as smug, so don’t be surprised if people don’t like your phrasing.
2. It’s your tunnel-vision-like focus on it that could be off-putting, not WHAT you said. It gives the impression that all of these posters can’t acknowledge that victims can respond in a variety of ways and still come to the opinion that this woman isn’t a “victim” at all.
idk how he'd have another year. there's no way the NCAA would grant a redshirt on this season right?Buried deep in the TSJ TRO was this:
“Although TJ believes that he might have one year of NCAA eligibility remaining, he intended to enter the NBA draft this June as he was projected to be an NBA lottery pick, and he was intending to get his Sociology degree from Illinois this May. (Complaint, 1 53.)“
This is the first I’ve heard anywhere that TSJ could have another year of eligibility.

2) That is not at all what I meant. I have clearly stated that my statement was not in reference to the TSJ situation multiple times. My apologies to anyone who thought otherwise.
The thread title is "TSJ Thread"Again, my statement was not in reference to the TSJ situation. I still don't know why people are upset at a suggestion that people should better educate themselves.
I think we all understand this and have questions as to why we can't see the accusers statements. That would show us quite a bit. These are the hardest cases to prove and he didn't take her home and we don't know if she was blacked out. If video evidence was overwhelming. We would have seen an arrest and charges sooner. If you are triggered by me saying that people should better educate themselves about the different ways that sexual assault victims respond in different situations, and just because they didn't respond the way you think they should doesn't mean an assault didn't take place, then you are part of the problem.
And if me saying that upsets you, I really don't care.
I also want to point out that my original post was not making a statement as to what I think happened with TSJ. I hope that an assault didn't occur. But I don't know. None of us do. However, my post was making a general statement about how people respond to sexual assault (and sexual assault accusations).
