The information we've been missing has been right in front of our eyes this whole time!!!! I knew Eric Gordon had something to do with this. He's the accuser!

Now this is all beginning to actually make sense. So what you’re saying is Bruce Weber is involved and working directly with Bill Self crashing into TSJ’s world like DMB circa 1996. Also, IANAL.

I'm guessing Pru's ID will only be known when a story hits the national news about an older gentleman being found down wearing an Illini robe, surrounded by grieving NLs, fun prescription drugs, a cornucopia of home cooked dishes, and an absurd amount of gummies.
Until then, some mysteries are best left unsolved.

I always just assumed pru was really George Bray.

Kendrick implied some other males DNA was found on the underwear. One scenario that hasn’t got much traction is this is a tragic case of misidentification. Neither side is lying. I do find it hard to believe the DA would not be acting quickly though if the DNA wasn’t TJs.

The part about whose if anyone’s DNA was found was not very clear in the podcast. I think he said it wasn’t TSJ’s DNA, but failed to specify if another male’s DNA was found or if no one’s DNA was found. Sorry if this is diving back into the previous thread.

I'm thinking that Kedric's information isn't "fresh." He mentioned that it was back in October that TSJ voluntarily submitted DNA, and that it wasn't a match. but didn't exactly say there was DNA found. He also said that TSJ didn't know who the accuser was. It seems that TSJ has now been given that information, I think it may have just been in the filings that U of I did at midnight Thursday. The story circulating (bascially, a rumor) that the accuser also did something similar with some KU players would imply that they some people know her identity now. Since Bill Self is basically God in Lawrence, KS and he's been trying to help out, perhaps he was able to get that information on the downlow. Totally speculative on my part, I'm just trying to make sense of it all. I'm not a fan of this kind of talk about an accuser, but everything about this case seems "off." Kind of like our play in the second half of the Maryland game.

if it was some other male or females DNA, one would think they would be more thorough in finding out who .

it’s really really hard to think why the DA thinks the allegations are worthy of an indictment

Just like everyone, I feel pissed TSJ is getting completely screwed over by an administration who does not know if a basketball is inflated or stuffed. I cannot understand how TSJ is going to fund all these legal bills (maybe I missed the GoFundMe page), and I cannot imagine a player that has no NIL money even being able to mount a defense. I understand that there may be a lot going on behind the scenes with Underwood and Whitman working to get a resolution for TSJ; however, the longer this goes on, the worse it is for the entire team (athletic department & university). This has to be exhausting as a teammate, and makes basketball seem very small. If this administration and athletic department are not perceived by players (across the entire athletic program) to stick up for their student athletes (quasi-employees), there must be some obvious questions swirling around the players and recruits heads about their representation as Illinois. Very surprised and disappointed this story does not have more national attention. I think TSJ should try to get on primetime show with his lawyer (CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.) and start promoting his case. Extremely disappointed that other student athletes and students on campus are not having a demonstration regarding his rights and his stellar reputation on and off the court.

I think a lot of us are NOT ok with Shannon being suspended without due process. Many posts have attested as to how unfair this is to him and not in the spirit of innocense before guilt.

But a lot of us also know that organizations today are very public relations conscious as well as very litigation averse. So they tend to err on the side of what course of action they believe will further both of those aims the best and protect themselves the most... and everything else gets tossed aside.

One of the greatest offenses to an accused without due process is the damage done to one’s reputation that often stays with the person for the entire rest of their lives. How do you ‘repair’ a damaged reputation with so much of the public if it turns out that you were in fact innocent? You can’t. It’s an unfairness that one has have the strength of character to live with and get on with their lives the best way that they can.

Many of us have been uneasy from the beginning as to how this Shannon process has developed. And I for one have pleaded for the U to seriously review their current policy for possible amending to include for greater fairness for an accused.

The best that can be said is that true justice is of course determined and proper consequences assessed. And without a doubt... this experience is indeed a major learning event for Shannon, his accuser, the U, and many of us as we witness this process.

In any case, Illini Nation is still being robbed of an opportunity to watch one of the best young men to play for The Beloveds in their history. And we won’t be getting any restitution for THAT. And while this may not rise to the level of true justice being achieved in a serious situation... this is still no trivial loss for Illini fanatics.

Once again... things in Life intrude upon our lives. Turns we did not expect to take. And losses we hoped not to feel. That don't ever show up in the Loss Column of the Standings.
Cliff Notes version: An organization will always protect itself at the expense of an individual.

This is where I'm at, too. I don't think details are coming as quickly as they were right after the charges were made public and people are going over what they do know to make sense of things.

Something feels off with TSJ having a conversation about engaging in consensual touching (at least that's my read based on what our insiders told us early on) in public, but then not knowing who was accusing him, particularly if there really were DMs exchanged between them. I think the unfortunate truth at this point is that we won't know anything more until Thursday, and even then information is going to come in drips and drabs.

I'm still looking forward to getting a peek behind the curtain from insiders, even if they can only leave us crumbs and not the whole meal.

If TSJ had NOT been suspended and kept playing, then the Chancellor, President, AD, and Head Coach would have been fired by now. You want a national media circus that portrays our school as a villain? Try playing TSJ WITHOUT a TRO. You must have forgotten the Steven Salaita case. That cost the previous Chancellor her job. You want the U of I to become a punching bag from Champaign to Washington, DC? In an election year? Do it your way.

I wonder though if the Defense asked for a statement from him because if he made one it's not in the currently available files.

God knows we need 'em!

I used to live in North Alabama. One day I was watching the local 6 o’clock news cause I like to party. This insanely bizarre interview came on during a story about someone breaking into an apartment and trying to grope this guy’s sister.

It was so goofy that I actually recorded the local news….to show people how goofy this guy interviewed was.

Next day the whole thing went viral. Memes, an auto tune remix….all the things. Ended up being this….

A third option for what the university could set as the role for the panel: assess the likelihood that the athlete committed an act that is serious enough in the eyes of the university to warrant continued suspension. No legal assessment of whether the act constitutes "rape " (or any other felony or misdemeanor) under state law, or of legal guilt. Here, they would simply assess (1) the likelihood that, as the police report sets out, TJ fingered the girl for five (?) seconds in a crowded bar, and (2) whether that warrants more than what now amounts to what? a three-week suspension. Leave guilt or innocence to the legal system. If a jury later finds him guilty of rape, I don't think there would be any shame on the university for saying, hey, we looked at what the police found, gave the athlete a chance to respond, and determined that it was unlikely that he did the act that led to the charges. The police must have had, and jury must have seen, more than we were shown.

I also find the rationale for suspension hard to fathom. It can't be safety concerns. They are suspending him from activities where players are completely supervised and present absolutely no risk of sexually assaulting others, but allowing him to continue going to classes and completely unsupervised on-campus activities, where any s risk of him doing similar acts is infinitely higher. The only defensible rationale that I see is risk to the university's reputation. A pretty slender interest to balance against those of an athlete in TJ's position.

One final thought: it was mentioned that the panel had lifted the suspension of at least one other athlete charged with a similar offense. What was the basis for a different result here? I think it would look pretty bad for the university if, in that other case, it was a white athlete (say, someone on the golf or tennis team) who had their suspension lifted.

I still live in North Alabama and this interview is legionary! TY for the comic relief on a freezing Tuesday. Go Illini!
