That he did, as did a number of players in the Groce era-which hurt the potential of those teams IMO (as well as the general incompetency of the staff).

Anyways-can’t wait to see Ty suit up in the fall. I really think this freshmen class is going to be special when it’s all said and done.

But, but, but, but......Seal's and Ladders!!!???

As the competition improves and the stakes increase will the coaches put the most competitive team on the court or will they continue to try to equalize playing time across the roster?

In the game against Mexico, GG Jackson (#2 in 247 composite for class of 23) didn't play at all (listed as Coach's Decision, don't know if there was an injury) and Brandon Garrison (#60 in 247 composite for class of 23) only played 4:23. They'll shorten the bench if the game is competitive as necessary.

Ty's biggest attributes are his ballhawking D, IQ, and court vision. He just seems to know where to be and what to do. I'm really not sure who to compare him to with respect to past Illini. It's early.
Watching against Mexico he reminded me of Sergio McClain but that was too long for me to remember.

I like Rogers, but oh my that Cam Whitmore is going to be good. And his fellow Villanova Freshman Armstrong is also impressive to wat

Whitmore will in all likelihood be a high 1st round pick a year from now. Not sure they’ll be a FR better than him. More than deserving of his top 10 ranking.

Just shows how good BU & Co are at identifying talent. He’s done nothing but rise in the rankings since we were after him.

57-22 USA at the half.

Whitmore and Rodgers are the class of the team. The miss on Whitmore is a real shame. Rodgers is going to be fun.

(13) Whitmore is scoring at will from everywhere and cleaning glass, including offensive putbacks.
(9) Watching Rodgers his is like watching an all star soccer midfielder. He knows where the pass is going before he gets the ball. The ball is often in his hands less than a second.
(8) Armstrong is showing great defense.
(11) Ware's best attribute thus far seems to be "tall". He can catch lobs. He is continuously out of position on both ends.
(10) Carlyle made one defensive mistake after another and got pulled.

great to see how unselfish Rodgers continues to be even if everyone else seemingly forgets he's on the court

Final score: 102-60 USA

The "scrubs" went in for the US midway through the third quarter. The quality of play dropped significantly. People were not boxing out. Brazil started getting the loose balls and rebounds. There were a lot of bad passes by the US as players tried to push the ball upcourt quickly, and force it inside.

Ty was beaten badly off the dribble a few times early in the third. His replacement fared no better. (Brazil #9 was doing the damage.)
