Can he still collect NIL if he is academically ineligible come January? If so, maybe it's time for his academic support to get a lot less supportive and for his classes get a LOT tougher. He’s gonna sit out … Collect his NIL … And leave …
This is the kind ofthat is going to start to tick off big donors …
Why should they pay for a kid to sit out and not play and have both feet out the door ???
Brad Underwood himself might disagree if asked at this moment, but I would end up right and he would end up wrong.
Respectfully disagree...I understand...let's see how our season goes...I would have a better feel by then...It's time to retire the "every day guys" moniker for a number of reasons, but this is the nail in the coffin.

Ty going is a major bummer. Sincere was my favorite player 2 years ago, and Ty last year.Exactly the opposite. The clause you gave is expressly forbidden.
Sounds like more business than competitiveness...So disappointed to hear this. My initial reaction is to be upset with Ty for not going through the season and working to get minutes with this team, to find his niche. I’m not past that reaction yet. I have a difficult time seeing a player take advantage of a high level program and NIL because they aren’t going to see the playing time they expected. I love Ty’s competitive nature and what he brought to the team, but this is D1 basketball. I felt he had so much to offer as a leader on and off the court.

Who are the captains?he wasn’t made a captain I heard so that was strange. Now it makes sense

I believe a lot of the contracts are monthly payments while on the team, laws prohibit pay for play.Ty going is a major bummer. Sincere was my favorite player 2 years ago, and Ty last year.
Independent of Ty, my reading of the law (IANAL), makes it look like one can write contracts such as:
$X per sponsored autograph session.
$Y per sponsored <> at a camp/clinic
$Z per sponsored personal appearance
...
With the total not to exceed $$.
If someone leaves the team, or is in bad graces, don't schedule any sponsored events for them. Any actual experts care to say if I have this right?
In fairness, the donors paid for the team's starting 5, didn't they? I mean, Riley, KJ, Boz, Ivisic, and Hummer all had more donor money spent on them than Ty, right? They're sort of getting what they wanted, problem is, sometimes what they want is contrary to what's best for someone else and you don't always get it all. I'm sure if you asked most donors whether they'd want the current starting 5 or Ty and they'd pick the starting 5.He’s gonna sit out … Collect his NIL … And leave …

I agree you can't pay for play. My examples were of pay per sponsored NIL activity. As far as I can read that is legal. Whether a player would sign a deal like that is a different question. My guess is that it would depend on the reputation of the signing coach. Umm, NIL organization.I believe a lot of the contracts are monthly payments while on the team, laws prohibit pay for play.
Will be wild if he ends up in West VaNot really rocket science, he collects the check for this year, then retains his market value as a two-year player in the offseason.
Surely he feels he deserves a bigger role than he was ticketed for, and has the ability to do bigger things in his two years elsewhere.
And Ty is a unique player, you can see both sides of it here. But either way it sucks, we are a weaker team without him.
Good lord. Yeah, let's retaliate against a kid academically because they see the writing on the wall with regards to their playing time. I mean come on. Maybe if you decide to leave your company for a better job, your company should take away your health insurance during your 2 weeks notice period and cut your brake lines to put pressure on you to stay. Can he still collect NIL if he is academically ineligible come January? Seriously that is some slum lord mentality. Wish he wasn't red shirting but will never wish ill will to himGood lord.
