We didn’t get the rebounds we needed and couldn’t put it back in when we did. Agreed our shooting percentage was low. Their 60% free throw shooter made 4 in a row and we couldn’t there was a lot that didn’t go our way and we had open shots
Reed apparently shoots 59% from Fts on the year, but in the UConn games I've against MSU, Duke, and our boys, he's looked like Steph Currie from the stripe.

I just re-watched the game IMO the major swing in UCONNs favor was in the first half. We get our first lead 22-21 UCONN misses we get the board Mirk misses a wide open bunny nobody around him. UCONN misses again we get the board Drej gets fouled misses both free throws. After that we go cold and UCONN hits 3s and free throws. The lead balloons to 10 points and we never recovered from there uphill battle the rest of the game. Illini poor shooting never allowed them a chance to really truly make UCONN sweat.

If it takes 21 more years to see another Illini team in the FF, I will not be posting here. But I found out just today that all 6 FF appearances by the Fighting Illini in the FF have occurred in my lifetime (having been born in 1947 which was also the last time my high school won the IHSA State Basketball Tournament). I will always hope to see the Illini raise the NCAA title trophy, but am starting to realize that may not happen. But if BU can find a way to keep this core group together for another run, no one will be more excited than I will....but about a quarter of a million crazy Illini fans will likely be equally excited!! It is such a joy and a curse to be an Illini fan....but I love it.

Yeah I noticed it too in those games. Late against MSU to now I don’t think he’s missed one. He’s a 59% FT shooter but I can’t tell.

Good year but today shows that there is levels to this and unfortunately we are not at that level yet. Hurley owns Brad, gotta have guys that love the big lights, when you have a week and know what they are going to do on defense and still dont adjust not good, and then we just got punked and out physical by UConn.

Been a hell of a run. Needed more out of Boswell and others. Wish we would have gone in the post more in the 1st half. Had success there in 2nd half. Also, push the ball up the court more instead of settling in the half court. Unfortunate our close looks did not fall. Uconn did not do anything spectacular. Just made more threes then us. Sorry, just cannot root for Michigan teams. Till next year. Let's reload and build on our success. Future is bright. ILLLL for life.
